The 3rd Birthday

I was just wondering if anyone here played The 3rd Birthday for PSP. I wanted to try it but i wanted to hear everyone's opinion on the game first.

It's definitely worth playing if you have an extra $30 lying around, but if you're tight on money don't bother.
The 3rd Birthday is an action RPG and 3rd person shooter hybrid where the RPG component is from creating "builds".
The story is somewhat interesting, but not the greatest thing I've ever seen. The game play is difficult, but fun when playing hard mode and above. There's also a ton of replay value in the game since beating the game in different story modes gives different costumes for Aya, the main character.

This. If you are a fan of Parasite Eve, this may be a little disappointing storywise[read second paragraph]. The gameplay will prove to be a challenge but well worth going through the game to get the extras. A few bonuses to note are if you have a copy of Dissidea 012, you can enter a code to get Aya Brea's outfit to use in game [And in return, use Lightings costume in T3B]. Depending on which region you get the game in the requirements for unlocking extras are different. Plenty of stuff to unlock, impossible to unlock everything in one go, this is a very good thing as this lets the player catch certain things in the story that were overlooked before.
The story itself got some major backlash from fans [due to it being extremely different from the first two games], though the main point is to not look at it like a continuation of the original concept. It should be seen as a new arc within the parasite eve universe. The story is enjoyable, but at times, there were a few places where they could've really pulled some Stephen Moffat style surprises.

I've heard the gameplay being described as 'rage worthy' in a the harder difficulties. Though if you take your time to unlock weapons and stuff it isn't so bad. To up the difficulty they added special cheats that you can turn on that actually hinder your character for a extra challenge. [i.e one hit kill].
Not very clear on how long the game is, I'm currently in my second play through though in my second play through I am 16h19m13s in with two more chapters left before the end. Mileage will indeed vary depending on difficulty. So I'd say about 8-10 hours first playthrough but this time gets a bit bigger the more you work to unlock everything [around the 40-60 hour mark to completely max out everything]
