Two new races for WoW?

I don't play WoW but I like to keep up on the gaming industry and today it was announced on IGN that Blizzard is releasing two new races.

I don't know if the races have yet to be decided, but IGN said Horde gets Goblins and Alliance receives Morgen (werewolf looking motherfuckers).

Werewolves for the Alliance? Darn, perhaps I have to create an Alliance alt in that case.
Goblins can be fun as well. Although I probably won't play with them a lot. Hope they'll add some adjustments instead of just copy/pasting the NPC model.

Cocksuckers will not give up so long as there's a chance for more income.

I have yet to see a website sporting this information that gives us anymore information on the origins, other then to say that it's "according to sources". The closest thing that I've found to a "source" is that masks resembling Worgen and Goblin were found in the WoW data when data-mined.

Blizz knows that the data gets rooted through a lot, and I really can't see them being stupid enough to let something like this slip so easily - It would be stupid to patch anything from the next expansion in at all at this point.

What I have found with through looking around is that Blizzard has trademarked the name "Cataclysm" which I think was a brilliant decision in timing on their part, with Blizzcon being so close, and fans being so curious.

i stopped playing wow (again) at summer since i got bored of WOTLK's unbalancful things =P

well goblins i can understand, since on Warcraft 3 they are kind of on their side, but also available for other races (throu the shops, merchant buildings and stuff).

But wtf werewolfs? Plus i never heard of any werewolves in Warcraft history >_> for what i've read about warcraft's story in wowwiki and throu playing warcrafts.

They're not technically werewolves from what I understand. Sorry if I confused anyone. The video/article said they LOOK like werewolves.

Also, yes, they're trying to squeeze as much money out of WoW as they can. They know the game is starting to become dated, and practically everyone who once played it is looking for something new to sink their teeth into.

WotLK premiered when AoC and Warhammer Online did.

Now this new expansion premiers around the same time Champions Online, Aion, and Dragon Age are starting to gain hype. It's just smart marketing.

The new races aren't even much of an addition when you think about it. In WoW all the races share the same classes, so all you're getting is a new skin to stare at and maybe a new starting zone or two.

Worgen and Goblins...and just when you thought they couldn't fuck up the lore more.

Morgen? Are they supposed to be related to the Worg that's in Shadow Fang Keep?

Probably gonna pick up WoW again when the new expansion arrives, i fuckin love the world events.

ill start playing wow again when this expansion comes and alliance finally has a cool looking race. love horde but i would give it up for a werewolf

i think Worgen racial ability will be something like corpse eating or a burst of speed were they run on all fours or they become stronger at night there is alot of cool things they can do with it.

Goblin engineering bonus with out a doubt.

Dunno about you guys, but they even fuck it as well! Adding suddenly a NEW Island into Azeroth which never was there before and then sudednly creating a new race and then messing up the Horde race TOTALLY!

I don't play WoW so I can't say for sure, but I highly doubt a game like that gives two shits about lore. They're getting $15 a month from over 11 million subscribers. Personally, from a business perspective, I'd be doing everything I could to keep the majority of those subscribers satisfied and to keep them paying.

They usually release their expansions around the time a new series of MMOs is about to premiere. Otherwise a lot of the lvl 80 players who've experienced everything might be tempted to try something new.

It's just good business.
