VII or X?
Which in your opinion was a better game?

To be honest ive thought about this for a long while and i wanna know other peoples opinion. the way i see it though. VII is my favorite, but that doesnt mean its better. VII was not only the first RPG i played, but the FIRST GAME i played(way to come into the video game world right).
And because of that the game sticks with me no matter what i do. cloud, tifa, and the gang all have a place in my heart that will never be touched again.
Now for X. This was the sole purpose for my buying a ps2 (although i did anticipate mgs2 and a couple others) and it didnt dissapoint in any way. The story is one of the best to date, along side graphics that could rival several 360 and ps3 games,it makes sure you enjoy every hour of your 30 to 80 hour play through of the game.
i wont take it any further then that, but which do you say is better? i wont vote because i honestly cant decide but which do you perfer?

I'm surprised such a poll exists. Even if some people for some reason like 10 over 7, there's going to be a humongous majority voting for 7.
As for X, even though there was some strife between the main character and his goal, there really wasn't any external strife. The other characters in the game just seem kind of bland and everyone shares the same goal. There just needs a lot more character development to be any good. The sole purpose for playing final fantasy is the same reason as you would read a good story.
You just can't find any good games with such an excellent story as 4, 6, and 7 have provided. Sure graphics and a good, exciting battle system definitely help the game, but it cannot compare to reading a well published book. Also, the main reasons all final fantasy's are just plain awesome is the mastermind behind the music - Nobuo Uematsu. You cannot find such a musical talent as he for creating the most memorable songs for the right occasion.

Well... Neither of them were great if compared to most of the other Final Fantasy games. However, Final Fantasy X was better than VII in quite a few areas.
Graphics: Obviously this is better since it's a whole generation later, so I don't give this as many points (however, I have to say when it came out it was one of the best looking games for the PS2.).
Story: While both stories are kind of convoluted and kind of confusing, I find Final Fantasy X's is much more interesting and slightly less confusing. The writing was a lot better than in VII's (something that can be attributed to several factors that I can't think of right now), even if the voice acting was sub-par.
Gameplay: While not having the Overworld (something I love in Final Fantasy games... and RPGs in general), Final Fantasy X was a lot better gameplay-wise. The battles were a lot smoother and you could now subtly alter how the battle played out via the order bar and different attacks/skills. However, I have to knock points from X because of how linear it was compared to VII (overall).
Music: Nobuo Uematsu can't compose bad music (my opinion). The music in both are great. I say they're about equal.
So... yea, I prefer Final Fantasy X. Neither VII or X are in my top 3 Final Fantasy games though.

Final Fantasy VIII is the best. Screw the haters who despise that game.
Squall Leonhart = best FF lead ever

There should have been more choices, like FFVIII, FFIX, FFX-2, FFXI, and FFXII. Or at least the mainstream ones like FFVIII, FFX-2, FFXII should have been poll options.

Since everyone else is ignoring the question I guess I'll put my thoughts in too.
Final Fantasy VI is the best of them all, regardless of Kefka.

final fantasy vii was the most engaging rpg experience ive ever had. even while demeaning in graphics in comparison to this generation i can still have a conncection with the pixelated characters and their emotions. there was internal struggle with cloud and his identity, personal struggle with the relationships of the two leading females in his life, and the external struggle of the world in danger. every development modified one of these things substantially and in the made for a game that tugged at the heart strings.
every final fantasy ive played up untill now is gold, nothing less. they all have their unique circumstances and characters and in some way you can always connect to the conflict. but should final fantasy vii ever be recreated i can promise you itll destroy the competition. lets not forget about ffxiii =3

I totally got way too into this game before because the story struck a chord with who I am. But god, i hated the draw system with a passion. Always had to fuckin draw 100 of each magic for 3 different characters. and on boss fights when they had really rare magic, there's always some asshole character who fails a draw and only gets 3-4 each time it succeeds and you waste like 30 mins on it. The card game was pretty fun at least and the esthar/outer space portion of the game was freakin sweet. Can anyone else say they beat the omega weapon? I have =)

The maximum level being changed to 100 really screwed the game up, too. Level 5 Death kills you now? What the hell?!

I would have to say X between the two choices provided because the world itself was better to me. VII had way too many things that I despised, namely Cloud and Sephiroth. Who knew the two most bland characters I've ever encountered would be the most loved by the masses? In terms of Final Fantasy overall, however, it s a tie between IV and VI, though I am currently playing through the re-hash of IV for the DS, and I'm hoping they didn't screw too much up. I just started

One should not look to diss Kefka by disregarding him.
For we know, this is a worst action than calling Sephiroth an incestual mama's boy.

So i just checked this poll after 3 days of not really being on and all i can say is Final Fantasy X just recieved a vicious ass-whoopin in the poll.
