What do you use to play games on?
What is your primary gaming device/console/machine?

So i'm curious to hear what my fellow Fakku members use for gaming primarily, I myself use a Windows computer.

PC, Xbone, Xbox 360, PS Vita, 2DS. Eventually PS4. I also occasionally run an emulator on my computer for some older games.

PC mainly just because of it's versatility. 2DS for portability. I don't like what I've seen of the 3ds 3d and won't buy it, it looks like a headache. It's too bad because it has a number of titles I wanted.

The 3DS and 2DS play the same games...They just have different shape and very slight hardware differences. Not to mention you can turn the 3D off on the 3DS if you want.
OT: 3DS, PS2, PC, and Wii. ...Yes, I need to get some new-gen things.

3DS games won't play on a normal DS.
It was my understanding that 3d features where required for normal gameplay of many games.

Well yeah they won't play on a normal DS, but they'll play on a 2DS. And no, 3D features aren't required. The 3D is controlled by a slider that changes the intensity of the 3D effect, so if it was required, how would you determine what level of 3D you'd need to play the game?

3DS = Next gen DS with 3d and better hardware
2DS = 3DS but without the 3d feature and a slab design instead of folding design.
I guess he actually meant the old ds and just called it a 2ds?

Yes, I thought 2ds was just slang for the the older version.

It won't play GBA games though, nor will it let me play MM Zero 3 and 4 bosses on Megaman ZX :D More importantly mineral town girls > valley girls by far.
But I thought the 3d was part of some games gimmicks, like every early DS game had to have some insipid touch-screen mini game (well, some where good, a lot where not)
But if the games I really want don't need it much (Rune Factory 4 in mind mostly) I might consider it.

Spoiler:
I don't really want to continue this because it's totally derailing the thread, so this will be my last response, but the 3DS is a decent piece of hardware. Complaining that it doesn't play GBA games is like complaining the PS3 doesn't play PS1 games (except for the eStore which the 3DS also has). I still have my old DS to play GBA games if I happen to feel the urge to.
And I guess there might be some gimmicky games, but the only ones I could think of would be, like, Pilot Wings and the AR cards and shooting minigame that come with the 3DS.

I usually play on my 360 for my main device and my 2DS for when I'm travelling. I plan on changing to a custom-made PC instead of the next-gen consoles since neither of them really appeal to me.

I do complain about those things though XD My PC runs DOS games from the '80s just fine with a programme for it, heck, it runs PS1 games just fine for that matter :D
But yeah, thanks for the info, it's good to hear that it's not relying on the 3d to make the games.
As an aside it pissed me off when the DSi onward didn't have a GBA slot, if only becuase many early DC games gave you bonus content if you had something in both slots. Harvest moon and MMZX being my examples there.

Mostly PS3 and Vita but i want to start collecting for my Genesis/Megadrive. I also have a PS2 and N64, and later on gonna get a SNES later on.

At the moment, I would have to go with my PS3 being my primary console. I turn it on every single day to either game or watch vids. Hell, I'm still more interested in the PS3 than the PS4 at the moment. Won't be dropping it anytime soon.

Mainly PC, of course, but I also have a 3DS XL, a DS Lite, and a Wii (and I really should get a Wii U at some point, but I keep wasting my money elsewhere).

With exception for the newest 400-500 gig models.
OT: I play PS3, because both of my PS2's and my Gamecube are broken. 80-90 JRPG's for the PS2 and 10-20 games for the Gamecube. 17 games for the PS3, and very few JRPG/RPG or adventure (Jak and Daxter/Sly Cooper/Rachet and CLank) so... meh.
I'd play on PC, but it's too weak to run emulators or gaming PC oriented titles, and other than Dungeon and Fighter, I don't want to waste time in a MMO with no return (all mmo's lack return as far as I view mmo's). Though I do use my pc for N64/GBA/DS emulators from time to time.

Got me there. Apparently they can. I guess since the PS3 stopped compatibility with PS2 I just assumed PS1 wouldn't be compatible either. That's what you get for assuming. Either way my point stands. Everything doesn't have to be backwards compatible with the last 2 gens.

For me, who has has a combine worth of a hundred titles invested in the past generation on Playstations (1, 2 , and 3) with no hope for them other than to watch them decay to time... after spending thousands on this collection and having Sony drop support for the ps2... Backwards compatibility is a big deal for me. It's one of the biggest reasons why I loved the Wii more than the PS3... Sure the games were of a better quality on PS3, but the Wii had a huge library of the past to choose from, rather it was online store or physical copies.
It's the biggest reason why I'd rather buy/make a better PC rather than invest in a PS4. Sure they'll be games I want for the PS4, but at least with the PC, the games I buy, I'll always be able to play. The collection of games abandoned by each new generation of consoles is inherited by PC, as far as I see it, and I hold the past as incredibly relevant. (My consistently all-time favorite console is the PS2.)
