What if microsoft and sony worked together?

I'm pretty sure everyone at one point has seen the console war/debate people flipped out and some online communities are still flipping out over (fucking youtube gaming vids mostly) but I was talking about the consoles with a friend when I got a random thought what if the owners of ps3 and xbox 360 worked together and made a sort of combined system sure it would probly have a weird name "psbox1" is the only name me and my friend could think of and he said it would probably be expensive as hell but doesn't anyone think that would be a top notch console?

Because companies and money.
Competition fosters growth.
Fanboy nerdrage is what allows these companies to turn the profits they need in order to make more stuff.

Well, competiton is what forces them to have standards of quality when it comes to consoles.
If they didn't have to go against each other, they could just get lazy because they know both sony and microsoft fanboys will buy it regardless.

PC would crap all over it as usual.if however pc allowed use of controllers on all games instead of the usual "this only works with keyboard" I might be more inclined to go for pc although I'd still keep console for this simple reason I can keep a console for years and still have it in working condition meanwhile what happens to computers after all the using it for everything online searching, videos and for some people work related stuff, and add on the extra gaming hours and I can tell you the comp is gonna start getting fucked up slowing down needing to restart it a lot plus the constant updates and on top of that virus risks over the years iv gone through about 5 computers meanwhile I still am able to play on my Nintendo 64 that I had since I was 6? im 19 now so iv had my Nintendo for over 13 years! how is it possible that most modern times comps be this "ultimate system" and it cant even outlast an outdated fking ancient console from the late 90s?
so yea those are my only gripes about that no controller, lag problems and waaaaaaaay to freaking fragile
also on a side note how do you really get into the game with comps? I'm sure any avid fps gamer just loves the feeling of getting so immersed into a game that it almost feels as if your literally in it but its not that easy(atleast for me) to do that with comps its cus the keyboard is right there in full view 24/7 I almost got into a game halfway then I looked down and was like "O.O...FUCK!...."

1. Take off your Windows key then or disable it via registry tweaks. If you're alt-tabbing, stop having seizures if possible.
2. Meanwhile in 2013, there's a ton of games that can be played on controller because binding is a thing. Hell, you can even play Starcraft 2 on one. (Cress is legit as fuck though.)
3. Hardware longevity is an issue, but that's because the technology is trying to push the envelope. One does not simply render tons of stuff without generating wear on parts. I suspect that the PS4 and One will be experiencing a mild increase in hardware failure rates simply because the PC architecture is slanted towards pushing itself.
4. I was sort of being facetious. Consoles are okay, but since they're basically becoming closed-box PCs nowadays, might as well spend the minor premium and get something that does everything.

So I was playing the thing on my PS3, minding my own business, really getting into it because sky rails and shit, when all of a sudden I noticed something. Something was wrong. It seemed as if I wasn't in the game and that something was in my hands. I was terrified, but the suspense was unbearable. I slowly looked down and HOLY FUCK THERE WAS A CONTROLLER IN MY HANDS and my fingers were moving on their own. Couldn't get hard for a week after that. I guess the moral of both of our stories is to follow the old adage told to people who jump off of buildings: don't look down.

controllers can be moved farther from view not so easy to do with a laptop considering the screen and keyboard are literally less then a fraction of an inch away from each other and by "in the game" I mean to get to a point where the player gets so used to the controls that every movement, button press or interaction with the game feels fluid or instinctive to the point of almost not noticing or entirely not noticing the controller at all giving sped up reaction time honestly I find it easy to get that when all you have to do is press a certain button at a certain time what would normally be a small twist or flip of the joystick and r1 or r2 could easily turn into 17 different button presses or holds on a keyboard controlled game now maybe its just me but when I'm playing a game I don't like having to play a second mini-game jigsaw puzzle with my keyboard just to get through one-tenth of a single level

it wouldn't happen, the two companies polices wouldn't agree with each other. that scenario right there is like two guys covered in paper cuts having a circlejerk in an aids clinic

Also, is the extent of your experience with PC gaming limited to laptops? I have a rig and my keyboard is sitting on a platform right above my crotch, exactly where my controller would be if I was playing my PS3. I don't look down and all is right with the world.
