Tsukihime would have to be my favorite. It's just so intense, so driven, and it's not the life is a cakewalk ridiculousness of many VNs. It's dark, but powerful and has a great story.

Yeah, True Love was probably everyone's first, since it was available in English as soon as the Internet started booming around the turn of the century. I got it some 8 years ago.
The last few ones I've got were more about the story than anything, even if I couldn't understand much of what my Atlas translations gave me for the Triptych storyline, it was interesting enough to keep my attention span for a few days.
However the first eroge I've played vigorously was Wanko to Kurasou, the one in Fakku's main page. I've spent around a quarter of the past two days playing it, and don't regret a minute of it.
Favorites? Well, Wanko to Kurasou, Triptych, Let's Meow Meow, Pick Me, Darling!. Only ones I've played enough to have an opinion formed about them.
The last few ones I've got were more about the story than anything, even if I couldn't understand much of what my Atlas translations gave me for the Triptych storyline, it was interesting enough to keep my attention span for a few days.

And further in my case, I have a network of friends that will share and trade eroge and VN, so it's almost an unlimited supply.

Wanko to Kurasou is the first game i've ever played in it's category, so i'm kinda new to this whole concept of gaming

I never really played it yet, but Muv Luv Alternative is my vote for this one!
Epic story, nice girls and way awesome mecha designs!! A good mix of action

I'm really surprised nobody mentioned about AG3 (Artificial girl 3 / Jinkou Shoujo 3), it's an awesome game (at least for my taste 8) )

I really like Discipline (the non scatologic scenes are the best)and Bible Black. I also like Sagara Family and Amorous Proffesor Cherry.

DiviDead. Without doubt my favorite ever, I love it and had to spend a three to five years to complete the entire game with all the endings and CGs, all that thanks to computer problems that costed me my save games. It was one of my first games.
Ever 17. I also love this one, but the crown remains with Dividead.
Nocturnal Illusion. I love this game a lot because the plot and the characters. I still wonder about some 'secrets' of the game as that door in the second floor that is rusted shut and you can't enter on it. A friend once told me that there was a rumor that if you opened that door you would face the 'deity' (demon or whatever force is keeping everyone inside the mansion) and free everyone from the mansion. In the beginning years ago when I played this game I wondered if was true, now I am certain that isn't, but still is a interesting theory. Nocturnal Illusion was as Dividead one of my first games.
Three Sisters Story. My first eroge ever! Well I think so, I am pretty sure that it is. I still remember my first play of it in a friend's house (the same that told me that rusted door theory on Nocturnal), I got the bad ending where the main char knocks up that runner girl that looks like Sailor Uranus. The plot is really good and still holds a high place in my list.
Seasons of Sakura. Also in my list of first eroge games. It is between my first ten ones, along the others that I mentioned earlier. I liked the light hearted story, the characters even though the are 'copies' of famous anime girls of the time, their stories were really good.
Runaway City. This game was among the first group as well, the story is good with a nice touch of supernatural even thought there aren't many endings.
May Club. Now this one is also in the first group and I liked it a lot. You get plenty of girls to pick on, each of them with their own unique story. Man I loved Kirara's story, and Hiromi's, well Hiromi's ending is good on its own way because you can tell that they worked hard for it and really wanted it.
Maid's story. This one is quite good because it is simple and straight forward, one of my favs because it is easy and fun to play with a simple plot.
True Love. I wished that there was more games likes this translated, it is rare to find a game like this and most of the fun is that you have to make yourself into the girl's most desired guy. It is somewhere in my list of the first ten games, but not the first.
Wanko to Kurasou. Really good plot, characters and story. Honestly I wanted it to be longer and with more endings but the game is great.
Man at work 2 and Brave soul. RPG, hentai, fun, good stories, and with a good battle system, two of my favorites because of that.
Adam & Eve series. Really good story, unique gameplay system, good characters, it ranks higher than it is in here. I really wanted to play more of the series.
Desire. This game is a favorite because the complex and unique story, also because I looked for it for years before I found it.
Kotobuki. This is a favorite because is fun, easy and simple.
Love Potion, Gloria, Fatal Relations. Love Potion and Fatal Relations are in my first list, but all three games are really good. Love Potion and Gloria have this complex story and characters that makes you replay the game a lot, plus the H-scenes are good.
Snow Sakura, Yumemiru no kusuri, Sagara Family, and many more. I will stop here.
