What sort of video games did you enjoy the most?

The topic is self explanatory. I want to talk about what kind of games people enjoyed in their life time. I for one enjoyed Fallout 3 and New Vegas out of all the games I have played thus far. I enjoyed the exploration aspect of it and I gotta say Bethseda did a damn good job on the game. I wish I played it when it first came out.

For the most part I love games that allow me to take over a character or party and build and develop them into my own army/juggernauts. Also needs to let me play the game for most than 40 hours.

That's a pretty general question. Games that I had the most fun with include the Metal Gear series (Revengeance was the craziest and the most fun to play, imo), the Resident Evil series, Monster Hunter Tri, Minecraft, most Mario and Zelda titles, and, of course, Smash Bros. However, the games that have influenced me the most and left the biggest impact on me include Shadow of the Colossus, Journey, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. In a world where exposition dumps have to explain away all the mystery in the game (I'm looking at you, MGS), I find that most of the enjoyment I get out of the game comes from speculating why things are the way they are. A lot of people feel that way about Dark Souls, but I personally was too distracted with trying not to die to really become immersed in the game's setting.

This is a weirdly hard question for me, mainly cause I've loved games for so long and play so many different genres. For me if it's good I'll enjoying it, genre, developer or platform doesn't matter for me.
I love the Persona series, been a fan since Persona 2 Eternal Punishment on the PS1 with Persona 3 FES being my favorite in the series overall though I'd probably give Persona 4 Golden the best GAME ass Game in the series. Lisa and Fuuka are totally in my waifu list.
Mass Effect and Dragon Age are two other series I'm madly in love with, Bioware had some pretty big missteps with Dragon Age 2 and the later have of Mass Effect 3's story, but Dragon Age Inquestion is an incredible game and I can't pretend I didn't spend over 700 hours on Mass Effect 3's multiplayer and ended up in the top 1% of the leaderboards.
Shooters I love them, still a huge fan of Call of Duty and Halo. As much as people hate these series for being the dudeguybro games of the industry, there's no denying the enjoyment I get when it's Friday night and I'm online with a bunch of friends just shooting random people in the face and barely paying attention to the game.
Marvel Heroes... I've spent $600 on that game... moving on.
MOBAs have gained massive popularity over these few years and although I think the bubble is close to popping on the genre, I still love Dota 2 and Smite. I met so many wonderful game industry folk because of Dota 2, I took part in a Dota 2 Game Industry Tournament as a member of Team Generic, we were the "indie" darlings. Ended up losing to Giantbomb's team but at least we beat EA...
I got sidetracked, anyways I love all video games, I'm something of a mega nerd and that'll never change.

Usually ones that are story-driven, satisfyingly simple, and/or a quirky Japanese game. I generally lean towards action and RPG, though I favor other genres too other than RTS and MMORPGs.
Some of my favorites defy description though. I mean, how many people can accurately and concisely describe games like Katamari and Killer7?

I've been enjoying the story driven adventure games more recently. Telltale games, life is strange, and dreamfall chapters.
Witcher 3 will take over when released though.

Mostly online games, either competitive or just for fun type games. Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Diablo, Modern Warfare, so on and so fort.
The offline single players that i enjoy are ones with a very good story, a story that gets you more into the gameplay and makes you genuinely interested how the story ends. Half-Life, Resident Evil, Portal. I know that ain't many, but those were the only ones that came to mind.

I tend to enjoy oldschool survival horror games the best especially ones with lots of exploration and atmosphere. Moments when there are no enemies and I can go around and search, gather items, and read files.

Games like Persona and Disgaea. Actually, those two in particular since they do the grinding game just right.
