Why waiting is better to buy the next gen?

I know right now that most of you have gotten the new consoles, PS4 and Xbone, but I believe its better to wait than jumping the gun. Right now you may think "hey this guy is just talking out of his butt and doesn't care which side he is on." well guess what? It's better to be patient than leaping into a abyss. Right now there is hardly any games to play.
I know that there are 6 games for each console, but is it worth it to buy it? For me I want more than six games. I am still waiting for the big AAA games to come and blow me away like pornstar.
There are some recent problems with the consoles, plus there are people who like to brick your console just because, also some of the apps are just meh. I would like to see something better than what we have now. so just wait.

I like the assumption that most of us have already bought a PS4 or the Xbox One. Nice.

What you've said is a given with new gen releases. I'm not familiar with the process of game developing but I'm pretty sure it takes a damn long time to produce a game, especially when it's for a new system that not every developer will have access to before release. Nobody is going to buy a console with no games for it, that's why they'll usually have ports from the previous gen or something simple. At the same time, no company is going to wait until developers have made a plethora of games for their console to release.
Obviously. New systems aren't going to come out flawless when they're first released, testing and debugging period can only fix so much when done within the company and when you release and have got over 50 times the number of consoles running, odd bugs that weren't found during that period will pop up.
All that being said, I've not bought either console for financial and personal reasons, it obviously sounds better on the individual level to wait for all the problems to be fixed but it's because of the people who buy and use the consoles when they're released that the problems are found earlier and therefore dealt with quicker.

I wait because the games I'm most interrested in don't come out before 2 or 3 years. By then, the console will be more stable, will have more functionalities, and most of all, it will probably drop in price.

Safe to assume that this person is underaged?

Not to mention he wants to be blown away by a pornstar.
OT: Neither I nor any of my close friends have a PS4 or XBone.

Nig must be high or delusional. Or both.
None of my friends with a sensible head and a clamp on their wallet will buy these consoles with that many bugs. Hell, I ain't waiting fer the next gen no mo'.
I'm waiting fer all sides to die.

I know of two people that bought one of each. They live together, and they bought it for aesthetic display. That and they streamed on the PS4 and viewed the stream from XB1 same house different rooms.
But no, I don't intend on buying it for a good minute. I may do it for Metal Gear, I bought the PS3 immediately for Metal Gear 4, and despite the console's issues it was worth.
I later traded it in a year or two later for the new not-slim model, and have had it ever since with 0 problems. I still have my PS2(Vita, PSP-1000) in flawless condition, so everything is right with my world.
Ergo.
I do whatever the fuck I want.

the last console i got before it was out for 1-2 years was the Gamecube.
this is before companies were allowed to release things with serious issues because they could just patch them later.
usually it takes about a year for good games to come out for a console, especially Sony ones.

Like others have said, not everyone has bought either of the two next gen consoles. I only know of one friend irl that has a PS4.
The XB1 has a better launch lineup, or at the very least more games that interest me(Killer Instinct/Dead Rising 3). Both consoles have games that you can get on last gen systems like AC4 and whatnot. When Spring rolls around and Infamous Second Son is out then MAYBE i'll get a PS4, but I want at least three new games to play whenever I get a new system.

Since I need to build a new computer, I decided to wait to purchase a PS4. That, and I knew the first couple batches were gonna have complications. I'll get it eventually, but not anytime soon.

I'm content with my PS3 for now. I'll get a PS4 later down the line aka a year or two.

To answer the question in the title, waiting is better because you'll be saving money that way. Whether it's saved money from lower prices or knowing what to buy and what not to buy, you can use it on only the absolutely best games available for your budjet.
I've been able to save probably hundreds of dollars over time due to not getting the newest things when they are released (and then refrain from spending that money on other things). That alone has earned me a lot of benefits elsewhere in life - it's not like having the current new stuff later on makes the quality of them any worse.
Another interesting thing is that as far as I know, the Nintendo consoles have needed no patching whatsoever. Sure, Nintendo put out a few patches for the Wii and DSi, but those don't actually give any more functionality and only removed the "bug" of being able to install homebrew. I'd think that the Wii U is "next gen" and has a bunch of games already, but I haven't been following too closely.

When the PS3 came out, I wasn't at all interested in it but my idiot brother wanted it so my parents got it for both of us and yes, it is generally a bad idea to buy a console as soon as it comes out.
It is more expensive, there aren't many games out there and usually not good games anyway, sooner rather than later a new improved version will come out and, especially nowadays, you can easily get all the information you need to make an informed decision and so that after you buy one, you will have some idea of what to do with it.
So, unless a new gen console comes out every six months, I see no reason to buy it right away.

Just like with any other console release there is always some kind of problem found with the release so that is why I will wait most likely for a good 5 months for kinks and what not to be fixed out. Plus wait for good releases like Destiny to come out.

>implying I'd ever buy one in the first place
If it isn't a gift or under $200 I'm not getting one regardless of how much I want Kingdom Hearts 3. I haven't even touched any of my consoles since August.

I bought a PS4, it came a few days ago. I understand some people want to wait for various reason. Now I have both PS3 and PS4 (I didn't trade my PS3 because it has incentive values).
It didn't matter much to me, because even in 2 or 3 years I'll be buying it anyway, might as well buy it now. If it broke down, I'll have enough time to save up and buy another one (if it's dead and not able to be repaired).
By now, some people would ask "Why not get a PC?" and my answer would be simple. I prefer console over desktop for personal reasons.

I don't have anything against those who buy a console early in its lifespan. There was good reason to get a PS3 semi-early while the versions out still had backwards compatibility.
In this case I am fully comfortable waiting. There aren't that many games out that I'd play on it anyways and my budget demands it. Have the advantage that a ton of games I'm looking forward to for at least a year are all coming out on the PS3 so no reason to invest in a new console when I can put that money in towards games.
Everyone has their own situation though. I can wait. Though I think it's probably good that people buy these things early since a console without early buyers might suffer in terms of third-party titles during its lifetime.
