Yo, Turn Based RPG's. Don't like em.

With the exception of Pokemon and Personsa, I feel the need to express my opinion on Turn Based RPG's. For those of you who do not and will not give a fuck, please, refrain from sharing that, because then you would be giving a fuck and thus waste precious time out of your "prosperous" lives.
Now on to business, a simple, non detailed comparison on Turn Based and Non Turn Based is my stance *ahem*
*tacks upright stack of papers on the desk*
The Tales Series
Kingdom Hearts 1-3, BBS, DDD, etc.
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn
Y's: Memories of Celceta
Soul Sacrifice
Ragnarok Odyssey
Star Ocean
Infinite Undiscovery
The list goes on, aside from standing against original Final Fantasy titles, these RPG's trump any existing Turn Based RPG's.
That is all.

I like turn based RPGs that require clever thinking and strategy to get past bosses. Smashing buttons a la Ys isn't really for me even though it wasn't a bad game. Tales of is one of the rare exception of action rpg executed well.

I totally agree with you! RPG's are sweet, and there are two
sub catagories that ruin their awesomeness. Turn-Based/Tactical Turn-Based.
FOR THE WIN!!! Can't wait for Delta.

It tests the users mettle as a quick thinking "strategist".
I do still enjoy few Turn Based games with a good story and world to immerse the player and allow them to forge ahead to explore and discover. Though my preference is to feel as though I'm am the character in the platoon that is calling the shots rather than controlling a platoon from a third person perspective, I find games like Persona, Fire Emblem and even Chrono Trigger to be fun and rewarding.
Still, most of the time, I "don't like em" lol

I HATE Y's. I can't beat that vampire boss (Vaguilion) in the first one, so i never played the rest...

cmon now, you've never played any of the Mario RPGs?
those are some of my favorite games, and i hate turn-based rpgs. Paper Mario is one of my favorite games period.
but yea i'm not a huge fan of turn-based rpgs. also for the list you could add Demon's/Dark Souls because it does have a pretty substantial level up system where your stats really do count and require maintaining.

I'm just trying to avoid being a one sided douche, people don't like ignorant douches. You know?
Up to this point I have formulated all of my statements with the idea of being the "good guy" and remaining neutral so that no one with ego problems would come along and nitpick at any of the slightest flaws in what I've said. But then
HERE COMES MR/MS. LITERAL to ruin the fun.
I mean, the title has the word "Yo" in it. You couldn't have possibly taken that literally (most likely you have though which is why we've reached this conclusion). I'm simply trying to be a tad comical to lighten up the atmosphere and promote positive discussion.
But no, you've ruined it, ruined it all, you ruin-er.

How would wording an opinion in a certain way prevent someone from pointing out contradictions in said opinion.
You could've approached this entire thread differently

Then you should've approached this thread differently. Being dismissive of an entire genre "Turn Based RPG's. Don't like em," and then saying you do like them when someone points out a great RPG isn't really going to stir up conversation.
How about "Title: Unique mechanics in Turn based RPGS," and then the OP could've maybe listed some examples you liked in some games, and ask for some more interesting mechanics and how to improve upon them (and subtly mentioning that you're losing interest in RPGS because they aren't taking bold leaps {is what I assume you're implying you want}).
I understand you wanted this thread to be taken somewhat lightly, but saying you dislike all games from an entire genre (regardless if "yo" is in front of it or not), and then praising games from those genres (and barely going into detail) isn't really gonna provoke discussion on game design.

You could've approached this entire thread differentlyWith all politeness intended, Sir, pointing out contradictory opinions is redundant in the first place. You are degrading your active mind doing so. Only when concurrent facts contradict themselves is it worth pointing out. Many great minds have stated in the past that contradicting yourself is equal to growth in wisdom, such as mathamatician and philosopher Alfred North Whitehead.
Only the first sentence of that really mattered, just felt like giving some supporting thoughts lol

The purpose of a title is to "attract". Some titles have meaning, others are simply a tool in which to pull in an certain audience. With this title the latter is what I was aiming for, so it isn't really a representation of my tastes, but more so a banner that says "RPG DISSCUSION HERE!" thus attracting fans of the genre to share their thoughts and opinions. That first post was just an elaborate way to get the ball rolling. 'Twas simply a clever ruse to spark up some chatter.
(though I see you didn't receive it as I intended ;-;)
Simply put, this isn't one of the many "top tier" threads where a strict form of formal discussion is adhered to. Think of it as satire amongst the black and white. I simply wanted to read the thoughts of anyone who may agree or disagree.
Still doesn't change the fact that you came in and ruined it in the first place. >.>
