For the January's Recommendation, I would like to recommend you guys:
Nothing to Give by xninebreaker
Simply put, it was one of the most memorable pieces in the contest for me and I'm really impressed on the dedication he put on this entry; it successfully created a heart-warming story with nicely put descriptions, narratives, in addition of well-fleshed out characters with their emotions and actions. Though it was the kind of open-ended conclusion which still intrigues me even during this moment, which made the piece truly memorable for me~
Winter to Summer's Prose by sora_coltrane
How should I say it? The story did impress me with the kind of fresh feeling which I didn't usually encounter whilst reading many other stories; still, it was the intriguing set of characters and the way they interact so well with each other which really made me want to recommend this. Also, it does have some really clever twist right at the end; go read it by yourself to find out!

I know, but I did not see it was against the rules for me to recommend something someone else also recommended. My apologies if I was mistaken.

For January, I recommend El Chacal's latest seasonal entry, Nasty - A Dirty Christmas Tale.
The writing is solid and engaging. It's slightly arousing, but more importantly, it's quite disgusting in terms of content. The imagery produced is vivid and sticks to you, and it's a story that I can briefly recall whether I like it or not. Yes, the content is off putting, but I think that El Chacal makes great use of vocabulary and casual dialogue to make the story really come together.
Besides, that very last image he gives us... just... ughhhhhh. But, imagery doesn't have to be pleasant to be excellent!

Long time no post. And six months later, I recommend these works for the month of August since that is when they were submitted: Into the Ocean by Jerry and Rosario + Vampire: Moka's Strangest Day Ever by gamera68.
If people want to go back in the section to writings submitted during the previous six months that they would recommend for those months, I suggest doing so. I might at a later time.

Oh, the date of when a work is posted is supposed to correlate with the month of recommendation? I was under the assumption that I could, for instance, recommend people to read The Story of Kierre this month, despite it being posted last year.

I think you can recommend even the old stories to the list as long they haven't been recommended yet. I still don't know how to deal when someone wants to recommend the same story in different months, but you could always post it again in here just to let everyone else know

Ideally, people will simply use the duplicate checker, but if not, maybe it's okay to just have it up again? I don't think it should happen often unless someone is messing with you, but if it is sincerely recommended (perhaps knowing that is is a duplicate), it's a testament to how good the work is.
I would decline the recommendation if the same person recommends it twice though.

However, most of the time it is by date recommended. I prefer date submitted, personally.

we can discuss it in the lounge further. maybe we could pick something plausible for the same recommendation thingy. for now let's just say we edit the post on the previous months and add the second person who recommended it, with additional description like (recommended on October 2013) for example =)
how does that sound?

well, I think it's just make things easier for me since the old ones could also be submitted. but if you want to submit it based on the order, meaning you submit the new ones on that month please feel free to do so =D
I personally won't check the submission date of each story because I'm a bit lazy lol. for now, the recommendation limit is 3 per month but if you want to raise it to 4 let's just talk about how we make some amendment on the current one

As the month of October passes with everyone's hard work in the Halloween event well spent, I'd like to take the time to recommend two wonderful works to the recommendation list for the month of October:
The Maskmaker by GroverCleaveland
and
The Wanderer by d(^_^)(^_^)d
Both are outstanding event entries that I felt are exemplary representations of the fine writing found within our sub-forum. The authors definitely deserve the praise and should be proud of such interestingly unique stories.

A Cover Letter Fit for Halloween by leonard267

I'm very glad you recommended those. I would have, but I didn't want to hog so many recommendations all to myself.

Recommendations for December!
Being El Chacel's fan, I recommend his winter contest entry, Blood and AbsintheLike many of his stories, Blood and Absinthe is extremely fun to read. Captivating and gripping, it left me reading his entry the fastest in the contest. It's churns my stomach reading his works sometimes, but my goodness, it's just so addicting to read.
I would also like to recommend CoffeePrince's winter entry, Land-Share. It has dawned on me I haven't commented on there, but I'll do that later. Anyways, I thought coffee's work was a real gem. An interesting tale with a history behind it. He tosses in lots of unfamiliar terms, and leaves us with an ending that makes me question the sequence of events, but nonetheless, I thought it to be a great tale.
Or maybe it's because of spear-wielding bunnies forming in my mind. Comeon! I can't help but smile while imagining a rabbit hopping around with a mini spear. Maybe they were supposed to be more vicious-looking, but I can't help but imagine them as rather adorable.

Recommendations for December! Thanks, xnine. You took some right out of me, which is good. Everyone should recommend stuff to this thread more often so I don't need to.
I'd also like to recommend for December high-time's Moving On and y00han's Anamnesis. Both I felt were really strong stories in their own right and were severely underrated. They were special and unique, one extremely and refreshingly genuine and the other one quiet and quaint. I feel they are both worth a good read.
For January, I suppose I would like to recommend the winners of the Winter Writing Contest, FGRaptor's Regret and xninebreaker's Lost Warmth. These were exceptional tales that both leave the reader aching for more. It is only right they should have a place here amongst the best of the best.
