Seasonal Writing Contest!

They will have an advantage in so much as they'll have two works up for consideration, yes, but everyone is entitled to submit two. If you don't have two ideas, you'll just have to put all of your effort into the one piece to make it super awesome. :)

As I keep reiterating, there are loads of criteria for judging these stories, but ultimately [i]be interesting[i].

This intrigues me. Hopefully it'll be the savior after my mid-month crash and failure for NaNoWriMo.

Heh, an erotic short story is going to be insanely hard.. after doing english writing and managing to breach 1k in words for my stories, i'm finding it hard to get anything less than 1k without seeming rushed :/

ah well, see how we go /procrastination

We may admittedly have slightly overestimated how much one can get across in 1000 words. I do, however, like the 'single scene focus' and pointedness that it forces, and it helps us in judging them - the problem is finding the balance. We've since considered adding 250 or 500 words to allow a little more development, but it'd be a tad unfair on those who have already entered, and like Twitter, there is a certain skill in getting an idea across with very few words.

Feel free to give some input on that, everyone, but the private discussion is ongoing. I may have offhandedly weakened our resolve though. :p

[font=Verdana][color=green]I still reckon 1000 words is absolutely fine. However, as you've said, the competition has already started. It would be very unprofessional to change the rules halfway through; might as well through a legal anecdote - it's goes against contract law.

You need to be more militant about this! XD

Haha, I know, I really shouldn't have mentioned our uncertainties. It's decided now though anyway; we're sticking with a thousand words. It's fairer on us judges, it better reflects the skills of the authors, and it may entice some people who would have been daunted by anything more.

Since it is only a thousand words (or less), do consider keeping a topic back and improving it until you're totally happy, guys and gals. It's not a race - there's plenty of time to perfect your season's vision.

Oh, man I thought 1000 words was max, now it's a requirement. I don't think I can add anymore need to saves it for part two.

It isn't a requirement. It is only the max.

I started mine last night. Need to revise it a bit and make it a better read. Making a heartwarming story with only 1000 words sure is hard.

Quick question: was Momoka ever given a last name or not?
