I see it more as a continuum. On one end, you have "yan," the other end you have "dere." This girl definitely sits comfortably in the middle at "yandere."

This is the kind of Yandere I like, the one that is Yandere out of their love for(and desire to monopolise) the protagonist.
Sure, the kill crazy ones that end up killing/physically hurting the protagonist certainly make for interesting reads, but this kind of Sweet Vanilla Yandere is the kind I really do love.
He genuinely tried to cheer her up, and although he did rape her and made her into a Yandere, it ended quite nicely. They seem happy and all I can say is I hope they stay happy with each other.
