The caterpillar on the book cover on page three knew exactly what was going on…

Literary/Cultural/Political Note:
The Very Bougie Caterpillar (page 3, panel 3) is an
extremely clever gag, which puts a Marxist spin on
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a series of children's
books by Eric Carle.
"Bougie" is a shortened form of "bourgeoisie," an anti-
capitalist term coined by the French, who've had a soft
spot for socialism ever since the French Revolution.
Another Marxist reference occurs on page 3, panel 5:
"In order to line his pockets, the caterpillar exploited
the lower class... "
On the book cover in panel 3, the greedy caterpillar is
smoking a fat cigar, which is practically the trademark
of a self-satisfied plutocrat.
So Constance grew up reading commie lit for kids!
Very clever, indeed.

Looks like what we've got here is a Relationship Upgrade, from "exchange student & host" to "lovers". Of course, she seems to have laid down the challenge for him to cross the ocean and look for her in France. He may have to prepare for some sort of Frenchman Inquisition. ðŸ˜
Anyway, nicely done, artist-san.

"Je t'aime tellement! C'est trop bon!"
("I love you so much! It feels so good!")

"Je vous aime bien! Bon! C'est bon!"
("I like you [formal "you"]… lots! Good! Feels good!")
This was likely provided by a translation tool, so it was touched up to come across as an actual native speaker.
The Fakku translators do an outstanding
job, for which they deserve a lot of praise.
