The event going on right now is a Score Attack kind of thing that puts you against 3 other players and you play a random song and see who can get the highest score. Whoever has the highest score gets awarded more event points.

No, I'm not confused anymore. I was just making a generalized statement. Although, I do think the way this is shown to new users is very unintuitive and potentially confusing. Perhaps there is a way for Fakku to make this information more directly known to users.
If you go to IB, there is a stickied thread called About Incoherent Babbling that has one sentence: "Topics and replies created in this section of the forum and its subforums do not increase a user's post count." If you're an intuitive person and know you've posted in IB before, hopefully you can put 2 and 2 together.

This is pretty fun, I like this event. Only advantage/disadvantage is if you have UR stuff which makes it way easier to win/lose against others. Fortunately I have my UR green Kotori to help me.
