On Hard level songs, if you do the song 100 times you get a love gem. I'm at 92 times on Wonderful Rush lol. And I believe on the Daily songs, if you do them 60 and 120 times (on Hard), you also get a love gem.

Long story short, if you want good stuff, you need to do things on Hard difficulty lol.

This. Pretty much any first party game by WayForward is quality stuff. The Shantae series especially is an amazing old-school platformer series that still features hand-drawn sprites and there's a new 3DS one coming out this year and an HD one for PC and major consoles in the near future.

My goal for each song is usually just to get an S rank combo on Hard considering sometimes it's literally impossible to get A or S rank score until you have better, rarer girls. So far I've done it for most except the Ex songs and the daily songs.

I took Japanese classes in college which were great and I wanted to self-study some more so I decided to coughobtaincough Rosetta Stone, but, in my opinion, it's terrible. Not worth the $300 or so you'd pay. There are websites out there that are way better. My friend's been learning Japanese simply by watching anime and using a flash card program called Anki. However, he's really dedicated and works hard on things he's interested in and now he's even reading books like Harry Potter in Japanese to practice and participates in a raw manga reading group on skype.
