Looking into it, this seems to be how things went down:

Artist going to Anime Expo is a lesbian with an adult webcomic about gay dudes with dark themes

Artist's general portfolio of porn includes rape, beastiality, incest, and pedophilia

On May 5th, Artist makes dismissive Twitter remarks about bisexual people who marry into straight relationships, which really got some jimmies rustled (I don't really think she was being fair in her remarks, either, but it's not worth getting mad triggered over)

Artist ends Twitter conversation with the offended by flippantly mentioning that she's going to go back to drawing rape

Volunteer steps in at this point to announce that she's a volunteer for the Artist Alley at Anime Expo (first time, apparently) and a two-time rape victim, therefore formerly pursuing to get the Artist banned from the con forever

Volunteer rallies other people to find more artists who draw dark porn for her to try to ban from Anime Expo, mainly arguing that they make the con "unsafe"

Drama continues for the following days for those who became aware of it

Artist has since privated her Twitter account

Anime Expo makes their announcement as seen above

Volunteer "steps down" from role, apparently upset with Anime Expo. Whether or not this is by her own volition is still questionable, I find, given how adamant she was about "protecting" con-goers from evil artists

So yeah, it was all about keeping Anime Expo "safe" from this artist. Never mind that she never threatened anyone. Never mind that her dark porn is fictional and victimless. Never mind that she wasn't even necessarily going to bring her dark porn to the con. Never mind that it would've been in an 18+ area away from kids. Never mind that her drawing rape/pedophilia/etc. doesn't make her a rapist/pedophile/etc.

This is pretty much "free speech is violence" logic.
