I depends on who popular you are and your cut of the tankobon profits because your piece work in the magazine doesn't pay much unless your famous with a contract salary.

A old 2011 article stated a mangaka with a Tankoubon out is making 35 grand a year. I'm pretty sure that's included is piece work or contract with the magazine. And that's for normal manga so you have to have a little leeway on hentai. Oda made 1.5mil for that year's one piece sales. They might be making minimum salary if they are lucky. If their payment is this like what the animators get from the last article I saw about it they're really living a hand to mouth existence unless there really popular.

But really the piracy issue is on the japanese font. G.e-hentai has a 50% viewership traffic from japanese ip's more or less. I'm sure a few here but mostly on the torrent sites. I seen a many red sun flag in my peer list on uncensored books.
