As an experienced graphic designer, i must agree with the people above, the layout needs a lot more work. But the idea is awesome.Contact me in pm or on IRC if you want some help in that part : D
I don't have much free time, but i think i can help with layou
i'm actually into layouts like these, just in case you would like to know:
Spoiler:
I remember you mentioning that in IRC. I have zero graphic design experience so it would be nice to have someone like you that can give advice.

there are reasons other magazines all use the same format. Trying to be original is all well and good but being original while keeping a similar format is the mark of a truly good layout. Do what you will, but my advice is sound and would probably help. You should also consider different things on different pages, the art top/bottom boarders on every page might get... tired, quickly.I wasn't questing your advice if it seemed that way. It is definitely a sound idea to go with a tried and true layout that other magazines follow. If that's what everyone wants which it seems to be then that's definitely what we will do.

-if you're going to use "fan art", it being a funded or not funded project, how will you assure that each artist will be identified, informed, confirmed and/or reimbursed for art use?We aren't going to be charging anyone for the magazine and it's not going to be made into a tangible copy that you can hold so we shouldn't have to worry about that.

-how much material can last you over x amount of time. 'cause Fakku isn't a news site or a maker of hentai material...I doubt one news story can last over more than a couple weeks unless it's a ongoing event like mote mote.It wouldn't be anything that happens often. I don't see it being able to be monthly or even bi-monthly. There isn't enough material as you said and writers. Everyone is busy with in real life stuff or pleasantries to really dedicate to a magazine that gives them nothing in return for the work. It would just be something that is a good amount of pages that would be made every so often. Even if this ends up being too difficult to happen on any bases I'd like for at least one issue to be made. Time will tell.

Why would anyone on Fakku want nudity in the magazine? That would be preposterous! There were some who didn't like it on the cover but they were probably thinking it was going to be a real Magazine. I just wanted to make sure the majority don't mind nudity.

I'm going to be helping Animeholic with the doujins whenever we aren't busy with our busy Modern Warfare 2 schedule, so send Holic enough hate mails and we'll get it done!I'm so busy with MW2 because you and Sas want to play it all the time! Also you decided to get job(s) all of a sudden which is delaying your parts!

Just going to say that you could/should work on the format and layout of each page, there are better ways to facilitate reading articles. Advertising (what im in school for now) has taught me much.Do you mean the way other magazines tend to do it? I actually thought about following the format of another magazine but it looked too boring to me. If that's not what you meant care to provide an example? You can either post it here or get in contact with me another way.

I'm willing to contribute to some of the design work, in fact I'll do a small mock-up of what I personally think would work better.Cool. If it looks good we will definitely use you and it, lol. It would get boring using the same layout over and over, so any ideas on that are welcomed.

(Oh and hell yes there should be nudity, wouldn't be much of a Fakku magazine without it :P )Judging from the poll it looks like nudity is inbound. Makes pic searching a lot easier as well since there is very few SFW quality pics.
I don't know how many remember this, but some time ago I posted a prototype Fakku magazine cover. You can find that thread here if you haven't seen it. The community seemed to like the idea so here is what I think it could be of sorts. This is going to be some prototype pages just to get an idea of if you guys like the way it's going or if you think changes should be made. If you want the text changed in any way or the size or the design say so and make some suggestions. I will add more pages and different layouts for different sections to get feedback as well. When everyone is happy we will do a full issue one day or something.

If I forgot to credit you in here make sure to send me an angry PM or MSN message. Also, if anyone wishes to join make sure to say so. We need writers first and foremost but if you wanna design and have some ideas we would love to hear them.
These pages will only fully work in FireFox and Opera. You can view them in other browsers, but you won't be able to see the animation. Make sure to click and zoom in on the pages to see everything clearly. The two who wrote these are Catcher and ZeroOBK. The animation was done by Red Sasori.

Gameplay > Historical Accuracy. Also, Black Ops is set during the Cold War. So, 1947-1991.
So, you don't know at what time those scenes are even taking place.
My understanding was that there was a Vietnam portion. The thick jungle was the biggest indicator for me. As late as 91 though...
The Vietnam War was a Cold War military conflict. What I was saying was that just because you see Vietnam portions doesn't mean the story is restricted to the time line of that war. Black Ops is set during the Cold War so it involves anything related to it and the weapons associated to said events up to 1991. Also, as others have pointed out, it is Black Ops so Historical Accuracy is probably going to be stretched to some extent.

Been using Pale Moon for a while now and I like it. It loads things a little faster, but not anything to really shout about. I think I will keep using it just because I have it now and it does work with the add-ons I like. Firefox has always been the best and they still are in my opinion. I can't wait to see what they do in the future.
I've tried Chrome as well and I didn't get a speed boost at all. I also don't care for it's looks either. Maybe I have been using firefox for too many years, but it just looks ugly to me.

Doesn't matter anymore. I told her that honestly even if I get it fixed, it's still a really shitty computer. So, she went out and bought a new HP. It's much, much better and she is happy, so in end it's all good.
Okay, update. I used the msconfig method and was able to install SUPERantispyware on her computer, where about it did a complete scan in diagnostic mode for msconfig and found 403 threats. Most of the threats were just the usual you would see on a neglected computer such as a bunch of tracking cookies and a bunch of adware stuff. It did find the main problem too which it registered as rouge antivirus. After the scan completed I had it remove everything found and did a restart back into normal windows mode.
After it restarted into normal windows the rogue virus was still there despite SUPERantispyware saying that it was successfully removed. So, I restarted into safe made where I did a scan again. It once again found the rouge antivirus, but everything else it had removed previously was still gone I had it remove the rouge again, restarted and instead of going back to normal mode I went back into safe mode and scanned again. This time nothing at all came up. So, I restarted into normal windows and to my surprise the virus was still there.
I'm guessing that either the virus is reinstalling itself somehow or the antivirus I am using isn't completely getting rid of it. The computer did run better at first, but when the rogue would start up it slowed to a crawl and I even attempted to scan in normal mode but it was moving far too slow. In the end I ran out of time and told her I would be back later. If you guys don't have anymore ideas I guess I will try the ultimate boot method that Nachbar suggested or perhaps I should try one of the other assortment of antivruses out there.

So, a friend of mine called me up saying that something was wrong with her computer. She didn't know what it was only that it wouldn't go away and her internet was no longer working despite comcast saying that everything was fine on their end. When I got to her house I saw that it was a hijacker of sorts or whatever you want to call it. A virus masquerading as a anti virus wanting you to do a scan where about it would find numerous viruses on the computer and preform a complete scan in 30 seconds, then would prompt you that the only way to remove said viruses would be to enter your credit card to unlock the full version.
I tried using the anti virus that was already on her computer but all she had was trail versions of random crap like Norton (Keep the name calling to a minimum. She isn't the brightest computer user). Anyways, I had no clue how to get it off so I just tried an assortment of things to no avail.
I tried running the computer in safe mode with networking, but it still wouldn't connect to the internet. I'm assuming it's still the virus preventing that because according to her before the virus was there her internet was working just fine. In safe mode I attempted to install SUPERantispyware from a USB drive which failed because it apparently couldn't be installed in safe mode or so it said. After that I tried AVG, but that prompted with saying that it needs to be hooked up to the internet to install.
After that method failed I attempted to to do the same in normal windows mode but the virus kept saying that the anti virus stuff I was attempting to install was a virus itself and canceled all the actions even with UAC turned off. It also registers task manager as a virus and most of the time won't let me bring that up. I also can't end any processes as it says access is denied despite being on the administrator account. After that I gave up and said I'd ask around. So, what can I do to help her?
Bit more info:
OS: Vista Service pack 2.
Computer maker: HP
Ram: 512Mb
CPU: Something really shitty.
Computer age: 5 years old.
Don't know if any of that helps, but it's there.

I agree with Holic there. But i still didnt get the ending. Maybe im too stupid to understand, but they were trapped in that world right? It's open to interpretation. You can believe they're dead and ghosts, or you can believe that they're trapped in that realm. There is no definite answer.
Silent Hill is by far the best Game to Movie adaptation there has been. In fact, Silent Hill the movie is better then most horror movies nowadays. It's beats the ever loving hell out of Jason and Freddy Kruger movies including the updated remakes we're getting nowadays and even beats the Saw movies except the first one. Silent Hill actually did what Horror movies are suppose to do and scare us. I don't mean that other horror movies nowadays don't scare, but they usually rely on cheap theatrics, jump scares and pop up scares. Not to say that those aren't scary in themselves, but they are too telegraphed in horror movies now.
However, Silent Hill the movie is not all good. There is plenty wrong with the movie. Where they went terribly wrong was in introducing the town people and the side kick female character. The whole point of the original Silent Hill games was the feeling of isolation. You walked about it with the sense that the town itself was alive and an enemy. You were to face it alone and the perils it would throw at you. Basically, Atmosphere. A good horror movie, game or book, must give the reader/viewer/player good atmosphere. It needs to project the consumer into the world they're trying to convey and Silent Hill manages this, but only in the early half of the movie.
Some scenes in the movie were entirely unneeded as well. We all know that pyramid head was there for fan service and nothing more. All the scenes where the husband was searching for his wife were unnecessary as they did nothing to the plot. In my opinion the towns folk should have been replaced with flash backs or some sort of visualization of past events.
Overall it's a good movie. However the plot and dialogue let it down in my opinion. It's still the best video game movie hands down though.
