I don't know how close you guys were, but I have been pretty messed up by suicides of folks I wasn't even particularly close to so there really isn't some kind of "bond threshold" required to have a strong emotional response, especially to something this emotionally complex. Sorry you are suffering and I hope you are able to get this all sorted out with yourself as painlessly as possible.
