Honestly, my mother would never deprive me of my basic needs, but I guess you could say she did a fair number of the the things the article writer listed. Educating and raising a child is always a changing process, and it differs for every child.
It's not about treating every child equally, but treating every child with what they require as an individual to foster success. Often, one method works better than another, but that's not to say that other methods never work. There are kids who are able to thrive and grow up to be healthy adults even in a family with parents as strict as her. It's just that there are also kids who become depressed and suicidal.
At the same time, there are parents who constantly praise there child, and yet the child feels as if he/she is not worthy of the praise in the more you try to make them feel better, the worse they actually feel.
So really, there's no form of teaching that is actually "superior", it's just what works best for your child. And since no one knows what's best unless they could see the future, everyone just needs to take it one step at a time.
From a personal standpoint, my mother literally said to be once, "All I expect from you is that you try your best. And since I know that if you try your best, you'll get perfect, I expect to see perfect on your report cards." This isn't something that everyone should say to your child, but after giving birth to me, giving up her job so she could raise me 24/7 (and when I say 24/7, I mean 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year) I think she knew me well enough that I wouldn't start trying to jump off buildings.

Ty ^_^ Pretty sure I'm still female from the last time I checked. But Imma take a shower in a moment so I guess I can check again :P
Hi everyone \^_^/ made my account last November but didn't get around to finding this thread until now. So just wanted to stop by, and say hello. Does it help that I brought cookies?
I naturally have lucid dreams whenever I dream, but there are techniques to teaching yourself how. Try tips from this site ----> http://www.wikihow.com/Lucid-Dream
If I'm in my dream and try and change stuff while in a stressful situation, I usually can't. But if I let my mind relax while I'm in my dream then it becomes much easier. Some of my most memorable dreams where when I teleported myself from my house to a neighbour's by using the shower, stopping time, and waking myself up from my dream only to realize I was still dreaming and having to wake myself up again. (The second time I actually woke up)

Does anyone feel the desire to marry a pillow? If so, this is your moment to speak up.

Because biologically men are suppose to be polyamorous for the survival of his genes. But i do agree on the one side stereotype of the slut to man whore meaning.Studying biology, I feel the need to add on to this. Biologically speaking, females of a species actually benefit from copulation with more than one male. This is because she wants children with her genes to survive. So in order to do so, whatever male's sperm fertilizes her eggs needs to be the strongest, so it's actually more beneficial for her to have more sex. That way she's guaranteed whatever sperm reaches her egg beat out all the other guys.
As to why humans formed monogamous bonds is because when we began standing upright, the birth canal narrowed and babies had to be born earlier. Leading to a much longer time a mother needed to protect her baby because its outside the womb. In order to protect her baby, herself and find food, it becomes more beneficial as a human to have a partner to help her out. The male also wants his genes to carry on so he sticks around to help prevent their kid from getting eaten by a hungry something or other.
So really, there's no reason one way or the other why a man/woman can/cannot be polyamorous in this day and age.
Biologically speaking of course. :)

I'm happy being single where I am in life, and I haven't been in an relationship long enough to miss it. I ultimately don't mind either way, I'm single until I finally meet who I'm meant to meet. :)
I naturally have lucid dreams, but whether I can control it or not depends on the dream. Often if I'm already in a setting, I can manipulate things, but I can't rearrange the scenery. I did have dream where I told myself to teleport from my house to a neighbour's house to search for something. Other times I can stop time in my dreams and walk around. It sucks on nights when I try to concentrate and I can't change much. If I'm tense in my dream, then I'm unable to make larger changes, but generally if I tell myself to relax then I can make bigger alterations.
It always seems like Japan is so two-faced. It so many parts they are so ahead on the rest of the world, yet it feels like politically all they want to do is turn back time.
I feel like this is a bill that just makes all those involved "feel good". Hurrah! We've protected the innocent eyes of our children from drawings! We can all go to bed happy and satisfied now! As long as the poll ratings go up, politicians don't care about anything else. But they are going to be a lot of repercussions to this kind of bill, and I have the feeling the effect might be a bit more than those politicians will be able to swallow.
It's funny how about a year ago this kind of article was being written: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/apr/10/japan-manga-anime-recession
So if they need it so much to save their lives, are they really going to risk destroying it? If it's Japan, probably yes. Sad how a country who is the leader on most revolutionary technology doesn't have the backbone to protect one of their oldest and strongest industries.

Didn't answer earlier because I honestly had to reason to, but now that I've discovered the ban on manga and anime I feel compelled to post. When there is no longer anything to read because the Japanese gov't has banned all creation of it, I will sadly cry in a hole and be unable to bring myself on to Fakku anymore.
If I don't decide, what happens to me? Do they make the decision? Personally, I don't like to make decisions unless I have all the details. If all I get after I go into Door B is a gun a and bullet, doesn't that leave me with the option to bust out? Not choosing in itself is a choice, and I'm a really curious person so most likely wait it out. If I found out along the way that if I didn't choose I'd be stuck in the first room forever, then I would go in Room A.
To avoid misunderstanding, I would probably knock on the door and ask what's going on. It would be rude to immediately accuse because you hear it, but if they send me away (which the most likely would) I would follow up on it the day afterwards. Probably approach them with the issue as a noise complaint, if I knock and talk to them and still hear it, then call the police.
(Not sure if this belongs in either entertainment or IB, if so, please move)
Ever since this ----> https://www.fakku.net/viewmanga.php?id=4949
was posted on fakku, it's got me wondering. You know how you have to watch a VHS video to be cursed from the Ring, what happens when VHS becomes obsolete? It's already getting to that point, hardly anyone I know does not use DVD. Would the curse stop? What are your opinions?
