I've slept on futons for the past few years since they're much easier to move from place to place than actual beds. I've got a memory foam pillow, a normal pillow, and a body pillow; futon cushions aren't quite as comfy as good mattresses but the lack of a noisy box-spring is priceless :3.

As some others have said, it's something of a hobby for people who are into it. Insofar as it's not getting in the way of important life things, it's no more or less valuable than doing other things in your spare time.

My time spent varies; I usually spend about an hour browsing, collecting, and fapping on most nights. Sometimes I just go without it entirely, but once or twice a week I'll spend an afternoon or evening just enjoying myself.

Finished a few years back... I miss the reduced responsibility. As long as I kept my grades up, nothing else mattered.

Only water-based lubes are suitable for most toys. Oh and I use a wonderwave fleshlight - it's very lube-greedy and is unusable with it. I rarely use it nowadays as I got tired of having to buy lube.

Oils will usually damage toys, so I'd stay away from using that.

Most of all, the girls are absurdly hot and faptastically perfect - something about them just pushes all my buttons.

It appeals to me so much, like I suspect it does for many, that it serves as something more than just the satisfaction of a base need but becomes an interest of its own. Browsing, watching, chatting about, and fapping to hentai is, for me, a fun thing to do on top of way to get off.

Browsing hentai quickly turns to fapping. It's usually a non-issue though - my bedroom door has always been promptly closed and locked when it's H time, whether to deter family when I was younger or roommates nowadays. I often say I'm taking a nap or going to bed early to deter any interruptions.
