Well I have retired several ships. And I'm sure I dont have all the best ones I want. Right now it's Takao, Yorktown, Houston, Shropshire, Repulse and Pennsylvania

Doing daily/weekly missions and commissions can get you cubes, but no, you can't just build a bunch every dayBut, you would prob benefit by retiring all the loli rare/elites for medals and exchange for Prinz Eugen, or what 2 days to see what the next high tier exchange is. I already got Prinz from login rewards and built one too, so I am saving (currently 58 medals).
Almost got enough merits to trade for South Dakota or Eldridge
Do some research, see whether Light/Heavy/Special gets you the super rare 'echo' shipgirls

Got Azur Lane, played it less then an hour. Found that all the girls I was getting were lolis and then uninstalled
funny considering the rarer, highly sought after ship girls are pure echo bait xD
you just have no patience for grinding till you get what you want lol
At the beginning it says "choose your partner" and shows three ships. All three are lolis. If you gonna have that kind of choice you give a variety of character types.
Also, I've seen several comments online of people saying Azur Lane is especially heavy on the loli
