Horrifying during what should be one of the happier times of the year for any parent or child... they'll have to ring in a new year in sorrow.
There is no media type (games/film/internet) we can directly blame that can "fix" this problem of people senselessly shooting innocent bystanders: the fact is, sick fucks with guns do sick shit. It's seriously time to start toughening up the channels of gun acquisition, safekeeping, continued ownership, and trafficking.
That said, right now, it is time to respectfully let the child survivors of this tragedy try to find some solace... I only pray the media does not tear their lives apart in the aftermath.

Email your prof IMMEDIATELY. Let them know how much it means to you and offer to do a makeup exam ASAP before break.

If that's too embarrassing for you to show right away, then offer up an option to do something non-academic elsewhere. Coffee/snack at a cafe, go to local attraction/exhibit/show, etc.
Ask if she's up for it, then if you wanna gauge her feelings on you in regards to the type of rendezvous you'll be having, end your planning with: "So, then, it's a date?" (even end it on a bit of a silly/nervous note if you don't want to sound super serious about the fact YOU want it to be a date, if that makes sense?).

Wow, pretty great "word art" here. While it might be tough to fully observe in full glory on a tshirt, I'd LOVE a poster/print of this for my Asuka-fan best pal.
The weapons silhouettes design is def the least "otakuish" and most passable as cool but a great nod to anyone in the know.
However, I usually avoid wearing shirts with weapons (just do avoid trouble and such, what with people's assumptions... ugh) but I can see this being very bought up.

Love the revised Asuka design. It's really quite unique.
Though, as nice as Shinji's design is, I don't think it's nearly at all as dynamic as hers!
