Well you can go grind in those few areas (that beach one, and 2 forest areas) to get extra cash and buy better weapons. And as you level your characters, newer weapon upgrades become available.
Named weapons become available after lv 50(?) or something. I finished the game at around character level 45-47-ish.
And once you get to the point all the girls are available to fight, battle become pretty easy imo. Utaware had better gameplay.
