http://nihongo-dekimasu.blogspot.com/ is an excellent collection of Japanese learning materials right from beginner to advanced levels. There are videos, text books, audio lessons and a couple interactive games.
Start with the genki series, the nihongo dekimasu videos, http://nihongo-dekimasu.blogspot.com/search/label/nds%20my%20japanese%20coach this game (easily emulated) and the Kana/Kanji in mangaland books.

This gave me a pretty good laugh. Don't feel bad Nash, I've seen it happen to a lot of people. All you need is more practice. I figure manga would be a good place to start, but I don't really have too much to say about it.Translating has always seemed rough. Just another reason I'm glad to be an encoder.
