I doubt the money is actually accounted for how often the ads are displayed on a person's screen, so it's not as though you are hurting Fakku by having them blocked, which I do.The money is made from page impressions. If you have adblock turned on we don't get ad money from your visit. And it's simple to whitelist just FAKKU in Adblock, so you should do it.
Except for the Jlist/Amazon ads, those are commission based. Those only appear in the footer and the viewmanga.php pages.

I hate the ads. But they make the money that keep us online. The fullpage ads make more money than regular banner ads. So unless you want to start donating regularly, there is no alternative.im willing to insure my monthly contributions in order to see this changed. that being said, i dont want you to change it only to have my contribution compensate the change. obviously i havent done my homework on the effectiveness of ads in terms of size or revenue, i just had an uninformed pretense that the less regular and more discrete members that prefer viewing manga online would significantly prefer the change.
I really appreciate your willingness to donate, but it would take a huge investment from the users to cover advertisement revenue. And I have learned that donations are unreliable.
I welcome your donations though. Perhaps I could do some type of donate x amount, no ads.

The issue here is that Jacob's server isn't built for streaming 200-300mb files to (probably hundreds, maybe thousands?) of people a month, so even if you could do that, zipping it up (sure it saves some space...) wouldn't make much of a difference. You're exactly right. This is all still up in the air. In order for it to work properly there would need to be 3-4 servers serving videos. It's possible, just expensive.

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but I wouldn't use the streaming function on this site even if it wasn't located in the IRC. I'd download it and watch it from my hard drive with no wait time while watching if the buffering pauses/fails.If you pop into IRC you can see what I have in mind. It's nothing exciting but it works.

I am currently testing out a streaming video site for all of our releases. If you join the IRC you can see it in action right now. It started off as something I was doing for fun, but now I really want to see it become a real thing.
So if you own a web server somewhere that has a 100mbps connection or greater and you want to help host some streaming videos send me an email at jacob@fakku.net.
Alternatively if you like the idea you can donate towards additional servers to host streaming content. Just send the money to jacob@fakku.net. I doubt we will be able to raise enough money (it would require at least $6,000) but it's worth a shot.
Either way, you can check it out in the IRC.

I never thought about promoting FAKKU! through Facebook or other social networks before, but after going to the convention this weekend and meeting a wide variety of users from the site it made me realize just how important being social is. We all share similar interests afterall so it should come as no surprise that we can all get along pretty easily. So I'll run a little contest to help promote the FAKKU! Facebook group. Currently there are 500 users in the group, once that hits 2,000 I will select a random user from the group and send a free copy of Blue Eyes Volume 3
. And don't worry, if you are a bit shy about your preferences joining the group does not make it obvious that you like hentai.
Also a really good friend of mine wrote up a review for Katawa Shoujo. It took me a very long time to convince him that Visual Novels are worth playing so this is his first time playing one. So if you are at all interested in reading a short review of Katawa Shoujo written by someone who has never played another Visual Novel before in his life, you can read it here.

This is a quick update so I wasn't able to add as much as I wanted. In addition to what you see below we added Brass Restoration in the Visual Novels section. It was translated a while ago but it's a short and fun game if you're looking to waste some time.

For the moment, I can't access Nise's 3 page of doujins https://www.fakku.net/manga.php?artist=Nise+Midi+Doronokai&start=20&sort=date&order=desc
That's because there are only 2 pages.

Agreed

Myself and some friends at The Cheesecake Factory.

Mike, also at the Cheesecake Factory.

Group photo of a bunch of us.

Dozo.

Bio at karaoke.

Danny Choos dad is a shoe designer. Thought it was cool seeing a store right next to the convention.

Another at the Cheesecake Factory
So Anime Boston was a lot of fun this year, probably the most fun I have had at this convention over the past 3 years. This was mainly due to the large group of us that got together throughout the weekend. It was mainly Myself, Mike, Bio, Nikon, and two of my close friends. Though at times there were 14-15 people in our group as we walked around. A bunch of users came up to us to say hello and we rewarded them with hentai manga and buttons. It was really cool meeting users from the site and hearing what they thought of it. And it was even more cool to see people walking around in the Hen-Tie shirts that we sold out of a few weeks ago.
Kalafina performed and they were phenomenal. Nothing beats adorable Asian girls singing and dancing on stage. We later went to the "Kalafina and The Garden of Sinners" panel which had the members of Kalafina, their producer, and the producer of The Garden of Sinners answering questions. It was a lot of fun and really interesting. Mike asked them what their favorite music was and got a free book for doing so (I think the answers were Pink, Beyonce, and Radiohead). As Nikon mentioned a bunch of us went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory later that night. Delicious food and good beer was had.
Another good story, we went to the last 15 minutes of the "What? Why? Hentai!" panel and walked in just in time to see a man getting corn on the cob shoved up his ass. (some of you might know what that is from) This was followed by an AMV to the "The Internet is for Porn" song showing a ton of loli hentai. What made this even better was that there were two Boston police standing in the back of the room. They were laughing at the corn on the cob but for some reason they left during the loli music video.. I can't imagine why..
We spent some time in the Karaoke room where Bio got up and sang the Mushishi OP. And from what I heard he did an awesome job with it. There might be a video of it posted somewhere in this thread. And of course we bought a bunch of figures and wall scrolls and whatnot throughout the weekend.
There is a bunch more I could write about but I don't really have time so I'll have to wrap this story up. I will make another post in this thread with some pictures right after this one. And if anyone went to the convention feel free to post your pictures.
And I never mentioned it on the site, but FAKKU! does have a Facebook page dedicated to the site. You can find the FAKKU! Facebook page here. I only mention it because I just added a bunch of photos from this convention and a few others that we have attended. So those are available to look at if you're interested.

Dear Sir,I just thought you might want an intermediate solution, sorry that you didn't find it to your liking.
To answer your question: yes, it really is a theme changer, and yes, the icons can be restyled, too, by replacing the icons from "/templates/alexis2/images/cicons.png" in the original css file with a custom set of icons of your preference in the new css file you feed to "stylish".
Making something like the screenshot you posted is a mere matter of copy-pasting the original style sheet for the forums, string-replacing the colors you wish to change and whipping up some icons that match your taste.
That point, however, has obviously become moot.
You have completely lost me. That's okay tho cause I have no intention of learning.[/quote]
If you have no intention of learning do not make a topic about changing the skin.
Incoherent Babbling was created specifically because we needed a forum where posts would not count. That is the entire point of the forum. This will not be changed at any point.
If link reporting is a huge problem I could look into creating our own file hosting site and you can upload your stuff there. But chances are I would need to run some sort of donation drive in order to pay for it. But I obviously would not remove things hosted there unless the reporter was a legitimate license holder.

Well I just added it to Special Interest, you can find it here:

Make sure it stays active or I will end up removing it.

We sold a few at Anime Boston but there are none left over. Like I have always said though, we will be selling them online eventually.
