First of all these are exactly the kind of responses I am looking for. You did a good job of presenting your opinion, the problem, and some ways you think it could be improved.
There is a memberlist, we had disabled it at some point and never put it back online. I'll get it back up as soon as I get the chance. I am also juggling with the idea of user groups that can be created by, the users.
Another thing I've noticed is the repetition of threads that share the same subject that are located in different sections of this forum. The motemote battles seem to have a thread in the news section as well as the obvious motemote section... and Fakku translations have cropped in this section of the forum as well as the manga/translation section. It's not moreso confusion but rather of repetition, which can lead to confusion in trying to navigate the site. I'm also not quite too sure, but apparently the comments posted on the main page appear in the news section of the forum, which I find to be redundant and space consuming. For example, the article regarding Rukia92's marriage on the main page has a thread back in the news section of the forum, but Rukia92 also had her own thread regarding the matter. I'm suggesting that maybe comments should stay comments and anything news-related that affects the Fakku community should be posted as either locked threads or open thread to receive suggestions/comments. (Of course, I have nothing against Rukia92's marriage... I'm kinda jealous but happy for her.)
Summing up, I believe that the main page commentary system should be separate from the forums and should not require a person to become a member, as well as some forum thread reorganization/cleanup. (By now I really can't think of anything else to suggest for this forum other than an occasional/optional color/genre theme for the forum skin, akin to something that www.anidb.net features for members of the website.) I hope this helps making the forum a better place.
I'm guessing you weren't a member of the site about three months ago when we had the old news system. It allowed anonymous commenting and the news and comments were completely separate from the forum. We had that system for a little over a year.
We changed to this system, where a news post is created in the News category by the admin and then it is automatically displayed on the main page. It is a lot easier for us and easier for users who frequent the forums and don't have to use a different system to comment on the news. And with anonymous commenting we would have to add a CAPTCHA of some sort to the comments, and I think it is just easier and more beneficial to the site to have people register.

Also related to membership, I can't seem to find a memberlist link anywhere, and though I have located a possible link after clicking my own profile then the "memberlist" link, it leads me back to some image section with forum section links. I was wondering if a memberlist page can be erected for user-search. People can rearrange how the list looks like by 1, most/least posts, 2, most/least recent post, 3, Fakku status, and so on. That way, people can see who's actually in the forum and those who are more respected. (Well, after hanging and posting around for a couple days, I have an idea on those who are respected.) Of course, this just a suggestion, albeitly useful one, but one nonetheless and may be a little harder to implement than my previous suggestion of a quick-reply function. There is a memberlist, we had disabled it at some point and never put it back online. I'll get it back up as soon as I get the chance. I am also juggling with the idea of user groups that can be created by, the users.

i find the system lacking for when you wish to give someone a point but are uncapable due to a recently given one. what is the delay between each allowed point anyways?i suggest a system where 1-2 reputation points are allowed to be given in a 24 hour period. i was also considering the idea that fakku elite and elders should have a stronger presence in the community by having elites give 2 reputation points per selection and elders 3. i just thought of spicing up the system a little bit, thats all!
edit; i just recently understood my mistake and posting this thread. my appologies jacob, if you want a copy of this moved to suggestions and this thread deleted just say so.
Well currently you can give or take one reputation once every 24 hours once you reach 15 posts. And I actually really like the idea of having FAKKU Elite give more repuation, probably 2 in 24 hours. However it would have to be for users with 500+ posts or something to cut back on it getting abused.

As a web designer you really get to know the big differences between the browsers. I won't get into them, but when rendering a web page Firefox follows the rules and Internet Explorer does not. Sometimes it can be a huge pain to make things look the same in both.

I agree with Nate River. Having a best couple battle to me seems like a great idea to me, though whether not that's forum related I'm not quite too sure. Another idea, which was implemented at a previous forum I've been at until it shut down, is the option of a "quick reply" where instead of opening up a new page to respond to a comment, a "quick reply" option opens up a text box underneath the last comment. This way, especially if it's a hot topic and people are firing off their mouths left and right or if people just want to simply comment with nothing fancy added, people can easily respond without having to wait for the page to turn into a "post a reply" page and back to the thread. It's quick, easy, and most of all efficient, and it also comes with edit and html/BBS code features. Now I don't know the html code for this "quick reply" function, but I'm sure it's somewhere out on the web. I find myself a little vexed when I want to simply comment on a matter but have to wait for over 20 seconds to post a single sentence. Of course, if someone wants to post something meaningful or it's a long post, then there's always the regular posting method by redirecting to the "post a reply" page.
Another question to ask... are there any moderators in this forum, especially of a forum with a member base of such magnitude? Apparently the "Fakku elite" status comes with the number of posts... I think 250, but they don't act like moderators nor do they resolve anything even with posting status. I've been in some threads where some moderating can be used, so I was just wondering if having some moderators can do this forum some good. I'm not saying that I want to be a moderator, but it sure does take a load off of the admin shoulders, especially when they have executive power to lock pointless/bad threads or slightly change someones post to make it less offensive.
A quick reply feature wouldn't be too hard to implement and you made a good point for why it would be useful.
I haven't really felt the need for moderators too much but it's definitely something we will need soon. In most cases I prefer to let people speak their mind without moderation and without fear of being moderated, but when things get out of hand one of us usually takes care of it.
