Random question, Xenon; how do high school RPs work? I assume you've been in one in the past.
I have been in a few. Generally it's up to the moderator to determine the world, as the setting is determined by the title. Is there magic? Advanced scientific discoveries? Are the students gifted with special powers or talents? Is it totally normal and identical to Earth? Either which way, the entire point of high school RPs is that the participants socialize. Generally the focus is not on story, action, or adventure, but interactions between characters, and more importantly, the RPers. Sometimes there are battles, sometimes the moderator RPs different teachers for classes in-between free time.
They're a lot of fun when you're a teenager, but I grew out of them because I stopped being so bored with myself that I had nothing better to do than to role-play as someone who was similar to myself but more gifted in a fictionally social setting. These are pretty common in AIM and ICQ chat rooms.
No disrespect to people who participate in and enjoy them, however.
Ah. Seems like the basics then.
I probably won't do anything like that anytime soon. My next will be Time Warriors. With a revised and properly thought-out terminology.
