Seriously every time you play a new VN or something, Reset your expectation to zero and don't try to compare it to something else.
That mentality doesn't make sense to me in this context. It's not a new game, it's an additional chapter to an existing game. You can't enter into it without preconceived notions because you're expected to find value in the existing tie-ins.
