I read a couple of articles, and I'm guessing that the Imam Rauf decided to build a mosque and cultural center as close as possible to ground zero to "promote relations between the Muslim/Islamic community with everyone else and to prove that Islam is not the violent religion it is." However, that's like having someone build a German cultural center right next to the concentration camps where the Holocaust occurred. No one in Germany was insensitive enough to do that, why should Imam Rauf be any different?

If Imam Rauf really wanted to reconcile the differences and the past wrongs that those in name of the extremist Islam have committed, why did he not discuss the issue with the victims of the 9/11 attack or at least address the issue in some form of PR to those affected by 9/11? Now, this is based off of conjecture and the articles, but apparently he made no attempt to address the public opinion nor the victims of 9/11. I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound like a sincere attempt to reconcile, which is why I doubt his motives in building a mosque and cultural center. And if you read the articles, there are actually plenty of mosques around the Manhattan area, so another one is needed?

I'm all for religious freedom, but somehow, this doesn't seem to be as black & white as others make it out to be. I don't believe that Imam Rauf is taking all measures to ensure that the building and completion of the mosque and cultural center will be successful now and in the future. If that's the case, it raises questions.

For those unaware of the issue, apparently there are plans to build an Islam mosque & cultural center in close proximity to the 9/11 site, approximately 2 blocks northeast of the Twin Towers site, and 6 blocks from the North Tower. Obviously, this has sparked major debate throughout the USA between the pro-mosque, it's opponents, and the people in the middle ground. This topic is set up to discuss this touchy issue.

To be honest, I'm not too sure what Imam Rauf (the leader of the mosque & cultural center building) is trying to pull. I'm not insuinating that he's inherently deceitful considering that his views don't strike me as extremist, but couldn't building a new mosque & cultural center be put somewhere else? I can only see this as intentional on his part, which is why I somewhat doubt his motives for building the mosque. His supposed purpose was to delineate the difference between what he believes is true Islam from its more radical elements and be a tribute to the 9/11 attack.

I understand that religious freedom is what America is all about, and it is protected by the Constitution. I understand that Islam is not what people believe it to be, i.e. the extremist and fanatical followers that will resort to terrorism to get their point across. I also understand that Islam, like all religions, is supposed to unify and bring peace to its people.

But then I ask, is there seriously a need to build a mosque literally right next to ground zero and bring up old wounds and prejudice, especially as we are nearing the 9/11 date? It is simply a bad spot to erect a mosque AND cultural center right next to ground zero whose perpretrators were of Islamic origins. Ignorance of the public opinion is not an excuse. While there is legally nothing wrong in building the mosque and cultural center, it would simply be better to build the mosque and cultural center in an another location and drop the public attention and ire. Going ahead with this plan will not bring a happy future.

My issue with this plan is simply of the location. I don't believe that this is some sort of conspiracy by Muslims to spread their faith and subdue USA, nor do I believe that this sort of matter should simply be allowed to continue in consideration of the future.

@animefreak_USA: I'm going to have to agree that Kanon was somewhat overrated. I was kinda bored watching the series in comparison to Air or Clannad, but a decent series nevertheless.

For me, the shonen trio is automatically included into overrated anime/manga as well as Inuyasha both anime and manga, Trigun the anime, Rurouni Kenshin the anime, Beserk the anime, and a couple of others.

I've watched so many anime series that it's become hard to tell what's considered mainstream. I mainly judge anime as mainstream shit if 1) I hate the anime and 2) it is airing in America.

To be honest, I think Adult Swim's selection of anime was pretty awesome.

Kinda reminds me about my own situation. My parents are first generation in the USA, which meant they worked their butts off when they got here. So when I started doing other "fun" things and not studying, they got pretty mad. I remember my dad catching me watch Full Metal Panic! on my laptop, and a huge argument ensued, which almost resulted in a forced reboot of the system and losing all my J-material. That was back in early high school, and after that I learned to hide all "fun" activities from my parents, and I still do even though they're aware that I like Japanese stuff. I think it's pretty sad, but that's Asian parents for you.

There came a couple of close shaves after, whether it was me on a bondage porn site, almost catching me watch anime or read manga, or me on this site. Funny thing is that I discovered masturbation back in middle school, and thus far have never been caught. I don't think unitl it was in high school that I truly understood what masturbation really is, and since then relished in the sexual release. (Banzai for sexual deviance!)

If you read the rules the rules of the site when you registered, you should've known that everything is compliant to U.S. law. That, and the fact that you can't handle the stuff that's on here (which is considered pretty vanilla) tells me a few things:

a) You skimped over reading the rules when signing on.

b) You're underage or have never really understood what hentai is all about.

c) You were rash in decision-making. Once you commit yourself to something on the net, it's there forever in the airwaves.

You should toured the site first before registering since it's free. To be honest, I think this is a pretty lame excuse for protecting your ass. As the saying goes, don't go into the kitchen if you can't handle the heat.

I figured it was about time I showed who I am, being a faceless, nameless, and itinerant "g-money" (would disappear months at a time). After all, I've been on the site for just over 2 years, why not show some support with a face?

I suppose if you couldn't find a pistol somewhere, an SMG would do if you had a plasma pistol. It's just that I never see people with SMGs unless they were playing Halo 2.

I love maulers, but their range is really short and slow fire/reload rate. Kinda like a nerfed shotgun, but with two of them in close quarters? Kick ass. Then again, I think the energy sword would win simply due to the lunge speed.
