Depends on the educational system. In my country working as a grade school teacher is a detour if you want to work as teacher for teenagers as you need an advanced college degree for that. So you can either study right away for six years and then teach teenagers or study for three years, teach grade schoolers, then go back to college and study again for three years in order to finally teach teenagers...
