Total time spent is less than replaying the game from start to get back there. No repetitive boredom save the experiments to win the battle and I can play without noticeable loss of continuity. I'd find it sadder if someone actually grinds for that.

I didn't play any extra battles, recruits etc. I follow the new red dots of the plot almost exactly up to that point.

Really? I find posting things fresh of the oven to be preferable since well, that way I get to make it slightly collaborative. I mean things like phrasing edits etc, it's always great to have other sets of eyes to give it a read before declaring it complete. Those who're familiar with my stuff will no doubt notice how many mistakes I make, either due to plain idiocy or moments of hesitation.

It's also funny how the second project was born out of a very simple "Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiic!!!!" whim during one of my less sane days while I was working on KnH.

I did resort to that. I didn't have the necessary skills and equips and levels.

And I couldn't go out of the castle to train since I saved it over the main file.

It was a tough labor.

But it beats having to restart the game.

My way to defeat Wiegraf was the way real men will choose.

Since I was half down before I even moved, I decided pussyfooting around him won't bring me victory. After all the tests I decided there was only one way to do it, the fucking manly way. COME AT ME BRO! NO UBER EQUIPS AND QUEER JOBS. JUST COURAGE. With 13 attack, an attack will do around 208 damage to Wiegraf. I happened to have Archer's Aim 3 ability, so I used that. Because Wiegraf just moved, you'll get to slash him. It'll do 260 damage, enough to end the battle in one attack.

But he will counter, which will kill you. So what to do? Pray to all the spirits that govern the universe that either Counter won't activate (unlikely) or Ramza will block it (quite likely!). OH GODS I BID THEE--- and I won!

For Belias, I happened to have First Strike on Ramza. So what to do? Fuck survival completely, bring Ramza as close to him as possible and slash slash slash. And pray he attacks with melee, which Ramza will completely deflect and get a hit of his own in. If Ramza dies sack one guy to Phoenix Down him at the right time and repeat. Hope that Belias fall before all of your team do.

Marquis, same. Focus all hits on one of the chicks and hope that Rapha won't be a retard.

I tried all pretty much all configuration that was possible. With only Move +1 and Battle Boots to work with, it's not possible to avoid the Holy Sword moves AND getting a meaningful action twice in a row. And since he starts first, I enter the battle with half down, making it even more ridiculous. Mettle won't help since I needed too many boosts to actually outrun him.

Which is why I had to defeat him the way I did.

Kindly recall the room where the battle happened. No brilliant positioning can save your ass in a straightforward battle.

Oh yeah, level 18 mages with some elemental spells and protect/shell.

And they die in one hit to basically everything from fucking Wiegraf and co.

So very powerful.

Oh nope, I'm using the Pokemon Online sim. Been playing old metagames these days, so much fun.

That was what I had at that time. Despite it having no skill whatsoever in its job, it happened to give the best attack power.

...and so I had to smash Wiegraf, Belias, and that Marquis with that and some crummy white mage, black mage and whoever plot characters I had at the time.

Oh the experiments I did so I won't need to restart.
