Getting back on topic, and focusing on the positive aspects of this discussion, it goes to show that Japan has done a good job in marketing its Gundam franchise. Organizations will always want to copy whatever is successful from others, unless they can come up with even more original ideas. An example would be the touch-screen smartphones which are very common nowadays, unlike a couple of years back.If they want to make something that was inspired from an existing product, don't copy it entirely. Honestly I'm pretty sure a lot of others wouldn't mind China making a robot statue. The problem is here, they completely copied the RG 1/1 RX-78-2 Gundam and tried to hide it just by making it slightly taller, colored it orange, and denied that it's a Gundam. Your example of touch-screens is just a gimmick built into a phone. While that is common with say the iPhone and the Droids, they are designed differently enough to be considered its own. This statue copied at least 90% of the RG Gundam so this is plagiarism. While I agree that other companies, organizations, etc, will try to create something similar to sell based on something that's already popular, but what China did is straight on copying.

I mainly do the shopping online but if there's a store near where I live, I'll occasionally go there and maybe buy something. Then again I have to weigh which would be cheaper.
