i just kinda wondering why do American houses dont have gates? there's no need for those.
so american houses dont need gates?
im just kinda worried some of those thieves
might sneak in to my house once i moved to the u.n >_>
This is America, no gates, only guns.
Seriously though, Americans don't use gates that often. It's just an aesthetic choice. A lot of people find the use of gates as an annoyance since they are useless unless combined with a high fence or concrete/brick wall. Which in many areas is not possible to build or even allowed by local laws. People use gates only if they REALLY need to secure something, which they will invest in the fence or walls that are required. A lot of Apartment complexes in the suburbs or in the inner city will tend to have gates with some sort of code system to get in.
If an American family is worried about criminals breaking into their homes they buy a security system like A.D.T.and/or they would buy a gun.
@RBZ He wasn't making a generalization. He simply asked why don't we have gates.

hmm.... upon reading this fpod i'm imagining you being glomped by zig from the first moment you opened that door....
Any quicker or more forcefully, I would find myself in the breezeway outside our apartment.

It would have to be straight up capitalism. A.k.a Big business a.k.a. Wal-Mart McDonalds, Bank Of America, etc.Speaking of big business. One thing I fucking hate about my countries government is how businesses are treated. One party wants to destroy them, Tax and regulate them into oblivion, anything less isn't enough. Companies large and small must be browbeaten into submission. The profits stolen from their rightful owners so the money can be spent to buy votes to keep giving the thieves the ability to steal more of the profits. These people ignore how business works. Increase their cost of operation and they won't hire people or they'll be forced to raise prices to compensate. Both of which end up negatively affecting society. Make it difficult or impossible to fire employees and businesses won't hire, look at France for example. Trying to fire someone there is damn near impossible so, companies don't hire new people as often. Which has lead to a large unemployment rate for youths.
The other party wants to prevent all government intervention in business operations and even bail them out (with our money) when they fuck up. Like how the members of this particular party expected the government to clean up after BP when said company caused a huge oil spill because the same party relaxed the safety standards!
I personally have never used a NOOK, Kindle or any of the other e-readers on the market but, I feel that I would enjoy the ability to carry few dozen E-books with me rather than lugging around several books but, I'm still a sucker for the physical book in my hand. Considering the type of books I read, if a search function existed on the e-readers then it would make it easier on me trying to cite the information from the book rather than flipping every page and skimming it or the footnotes looking for whatever.
Pro's: Ability to search a book for information or quotes. Ability to carry several books in the space of one.
Cons: Doesn't have the same feeling as a physical book which only really matters to the purists.
Edit: Additional Con, E-books might become difficult to move around. There is a risk of each individual e-reader being a "closed source". Nook will only play books from Barnes and Noble while the kindle will only play books from amazon, etc

One world government is impossible with a free society. Far too many ideas and people trying to go in opposing directions. Any society that emphasizes individuals equal to or greater than the collective can never make a one world government. At least, not a practical one. We'd just end up with another impotent U.N. or league of nations.
Now, I can see a one world government from a society that emphasizes collectivism. The socialist and capitalist movements are leading to a more interconnected world. Will that government be a tyranny or some form of despotism. Forgive my cynicism, but when I think one world government the word Orwellian comes to mind.

I've had sex in public near a guard shack at a KOA campground in Cherokee North Carolina. Perverted? Yes. Stupid? Absolutely. If I had been caught, I would have embarrassed not only myself but my girlfriend at the time. Probably would have been arrested, and regardless of serving time in jail, I would have most likely been forced to join the sex offender registry for having sex with a minor (I wasn't 18 yet either).

Are their any married/ GF/BF on fakku? Just wondering?Well, regardless haha. I wanted to verify that we were indeed not married so there weren't any rumors floating about.
You can blame that one on me. someone misunderstood me on Chatroll and it lead to the rumors that we were engaged or married.
Does my g/f know about my hentai collection? Well, I would hope so, considering I met her here on fakku. She is also the lead editor of Soba Scans. Before anybody asks; No, it's not a long distance relationship. She lives with me now and we have been living together for a year now.
What I'm interested in is how this develops. Is it an imbalance or misfiring in the brain? Some fail safe ends up failing so people have sexual inclinations towards siblings or relatives?
I want to know the who, what, when, why and how's of the whole event.
Personally, I see a few issues with the relationship but, they concern offspring or adoption. Two consenting adults having sex is fine with me regardless of relation so long as no offspring are produced. The chances of problems arising is too great though I wouldn't oppose any banning (as if that would stop them anyways).

Simple your and you're errors are not something I judge people on. Everybody makes minor errors, I'm sure that I frequently use the wrong version. Not because I don't understand the difference but, I simply don't register that I typed the wrong one. The speed at which my thoughts are fired at me exceeds what my fingers can type which leads to frequent typos or placement errors (like a period inside quotations).
I ignore anything that resembles "U ain't got no legs, Lt. Dan".

It depends. If they are employed and paid under the table, then they don't pay any taxes. If they are employed by using a fake SSN, then they are at least paying payroll and medicare taxes. Some also pay income tax, because of employers who withhold it or by using an TIN. Still, illegal immigrants as a whole do not pay their fair share of taxes, though the gap is not as wide as most people probably think. However, it would be incorrect to say that illegal immigrants pay virtually no taxes. The tax issue was one of the major reasons I support the FairTax. Those illegals, will pay taxes when they buy anything (since they aren't legal residents they won't get the prebate) Every time they buy lunch, boots, gloves, gas, etc they end up paying taxes and finally help fund the government.
I think putting pressure on employers is still a much better solution than the AZ law. The stuff that happens right now is a joke. I live in an area with a lot of illegals, and things show up in the news where some company has 10 employees that all are using the same SSN. I have a hard time believing that this couldn't easily be prevented with some basic screening by employers. It shouldn't even be that hard root out counterfeit SSNs in general. However, employers have no incentive to even try or cooperate with the government because there is no penalty when they get caught with 10 employees using the same SSN. They didn't "knowingly" hire the illegals.
I don't think racial discrimination would be particularly bad using this method if a standard procedure was applied and used with everyone. Wouldn't it be fairly simple to require everyone who wanted to work to provide an SSN and a valid government issue photo ID(like a passport, current school IDs are accepted), check with the provider of the ID to make the sure the picture of the original ID provided by the government and the picture on the provided ID appear to be of the same person, cross-reference with the feds to make sure that SSN matches up with that person. This requires that the government keep the photo one submits to get an ID on file(they do with US passports, don't know about other things), but even without something like this, there are certainly improvements that could be made.
Regarding discrimination, if a business fails to execute the procedure correctly with any employee, they get hit with a penalty.

The point I was trying to get across is groups like La Raza and the ACLU will scream racism until their throats are bloody and the rest of the country is deaf. I'm quite fond of my hearing...well whats left of it.

In theory, this law isn't so bad. As fpod has pointed out, all the law really does is enforce existing regulations and punish a crime. However, in practicality, I think there are a few problems.Effectivenss - In general, this kind of immigration law enforcement isn't likely to be particularly effective. Deportation processes are not particularly fast and can be expensive. The best way to attack illegal immigration is to attack the sources from which illegal immigrants are getting employment. If there is less economic opportunity for illegal immigrants, less people will be motivated to come here illegally. More could be done to require businesses make sure they are actually hiring people who are here legally. Yes, there will always be ways to fool the system with counterfeiting, but currently I think there is too much leeway for businesses to not check things out very well, hire someone, and then throw their hands up and say "we didn't know" if their employee gets busted for being illegal.
The law does create conditions that are likely to encourage racial profiling - Let's make this clear: if a police officer wants to pull you over on the road they can. There are enough arcane(and sometimes virtually unfollowable) traffic laws that if an officer really wants to pull you over, they can just follow you for a bit and you will probably do something that they could pull you over for on a technicality. I have been told as much by active officers myself. You hope that police officers don't have a racial agenda, and most don't, but the law allows officers that want to engage in racial profiling a means to make it effective. Let's be honest: most of the illegal immigrants in AZ are hispanic. The law empowers officers who do have a strong anti-illegal immigration leaning or who might harbor resentment against hispanics power to use racial profiling to effectively get people deported.
It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. Crack down on companies and they won't hire legal Hispanics as much for fear of getting busted in case one turns out to have a counterfeit. People will scream racism no matter what we do. The politicians wont tackle the problem because they have something to gain. Democrats have votes and Republicans have cheap labor.

Simple racial profiling-- few will question the immigration status of someone who looks Caucasion. When faced with individuals with non-Caucasian appearances... well, that's when Arizona's skirt catches on fire and this law begins to subvert civil rights laws. Don't give me BS that this will be random and fair-- that's like saying the people who are stopped and checked at airports are randomly selected, not racially profiled. We all know where those damn terrorists are coming from after all, right? And clearly, everyone from the Middle East bears an uncanny resemblance to one another! /sarcasm
Anybody who looks even slightly non-Caucasian should exercise extreme caution about footwear while in Arizona, whether living there or visiting. Such care is urged because a vocal and prominent supporter of the toxic anti-immigrant measures that were recently signed into law there has said that “illegal immigrants can be recognized from the shoes they wear.” The man was serious.
--> http://globalgeopolitics.net/wordpress/2010/04/28/arizona-opens-doors-wide-to-racial-profiling/
As most “suspected” illegal residents in the state are considered to be Hispanic, they will be stopped and questioned while walking, or pulled over while driving, for a new offence: “being alive while being Hispanic.”
A quote from your link.
This is irrelevant now as the law has been amended which occurred sometime in May. As of the current version police are forbidden from using race alone as a reason to detain someone. The law makes the immigration status a "secondary offense". In a nutshell, it means they can't pull you over to check your status. They can only check it once they pull you over for something else. If you think the police will profile and then make up some bullshit excuse then we have a legal system for that. If people believe the officer was profiling he'll have to prove that he wasn't.
I know we're on opposing sides in the body politic but please, as one person to another, "read the bill before you get your panties in a knot". The bills title is S.B. 1070. Go ahead and look it up.
Legal immigrants – many of them citizens, some of them second and third generation Americans – are compelled to carry at all times documentation proving their legal status. Not having their “papers” with them would be a crime.
The law doesn't do anything about this. Federal law already made it a crime for a legal immigrant to not have their papers on hand. That law existed before you entered middle school. The Arizona law does nothing to change this.
Illegal residence is a state crime.
Illegal residence is a federal crime and has been since before this law was even drafted.
Please, I know your an intelligent woman, just read the bill.

We went over this before.I looked around the forum and couldnt find anything relating to this.
But anyway I can see what youre saying, but it is one thing to ask for an ID when youre pulled over and it is a completely different thing when a police officer can come up to you in the middle of a parking lot and ask for proof of residence or citizenship.
The initial draft of the bill is what I would call racism but, the newest version is within the law. The only real argument is "Do local or state law enforcement have the authority"?
My answer is yes, yes they do. Police exist to enforce the laws regardless of the level of enforcement. Now, if the illegal alien ran from Arizona and into a neighboring state, then the Arizona police don't have jurisdiction but, they are allowed to call the Feds and the police in the other state to "head'em off at the pass".
Also the boarder patrol don't patrol the boarder anymore. They have set up "check points" about sixty miles inside the country. Which means that the boarder is not longer patrolled by the people we pay to do it.
I abhor racism but, I also abhor the arrogance of people thinking they can cut ahead of all the legal immigrants. Then they drain our resources from public schooling to Emergency Room care while not contributing to society more than slave labor.
I'm not a racist, I simply expect people to abide by the laws of my country.
