LOL, nice!
Damn, I really need to get a pillow that fits the 160cm covers. I hate having empty space at the bottom. I got my pillow back when the standard cover size was like 150x50cm. :/
I can justify spending thousands (god, that's fucking sickening when you say it like that) of dollars on covers, but can't, for some reason, bring myself to drop some coin on a new pillow...go figure.

Folding covers back up to match their original folding/packaging pattern is a royal pain in the ass. I can do it for most, but some can feel like walking blind through a labyrinth of vaguely discernible creases. You'll get so close to having it fit, and you'll swear that is how it was originally folded before you pulled it out of the package, but nope...back to the starting line to try another method. Sometimes, if you're lucky it's the easy fold in 2/3 segments, flip each side in to meet on the back and fold it 1 or two more times. I'm sure that most of you know what I'm talking about. ;)
Damn, there have been quite a few covers pop up on the blog over the last...what, 12 hours?!
Curse you, C82-exclusives!!! ( -____-)

Now is where I could be an asshole and say the following:"I bought two."
But I'm not like... oh, wait. D: <3
lol i've yet to buy a second copy of a daki, though i been tempted to do it many times. marks webstore erio would be one i'd definitely love a 2nd copy of...
Yeah, that Erio is definitely great; I'm happy I picked her up, though after having watched Dog Days, I wish I had picked up the Ricotta, too.
As for me, I don't buy doubles too often. Usually only when I think I'll like a cover enough that I'll toss it on a pillow sooner or later. When I think I'll do that, having a double is nice since I'll have a backup in case my cover gets damaged or whatever.
After watching Denpa...I wish I would have bought that Marks Erio myself. ( ;_;)
I have several sets of doubles - don't buy them too often though. The exceptions being: the Harthnir Milkpot covers, Evening Call C81 Touhou cover, Evening Call Rachel Alucard cover, and the Kirari Kira☆Kira cover.
Also, it looks like SMJ is running a promotion for the month of August: 50%-OFF service fees on all shop orders. You can see more on their front page or here: http://shoppingmalljapan.com/augustsale.html
Too bad it isn't 50%-off commission of all/any type. I probably won't even partake in this, but thought I'd share for those who have yet to see it or don't frequent SMJ often. ;)
^^ Right? Seriously, me too. I wanted to get this one, but sat on the fence. Had to weigh want v money available to me at the time. Still don't have the money now. LOL
Just wanted to share some pictures of my lovely new Momiji Inubashiri cover. ;)
I picked it up a few months back from Toranoana:

Yeah, I hear you guys.
That poster is def. worth the handling for me, especially if I ever consider selling it, then I'll have the complete set (cover, CD, poster). I was bummed I didn't get the poster with my last Lilith cover. That shall not happen again! *shakes fist*
Yeah, I think I'll stick to bulk doujin purchasing through Rinkya or just buy one here and there through Mandrake. I would like to support FAKKU!, but those prices...a little bit much for those of us who know better. ;)
And yeah, Mikey, this shit is killing my wallet...big time! I don't think I've received a cover since I got that Dragon's Quest preggo priestess chick from D-Stage. I've missed so many great covers, and was hesitant on placing an order for this one because that puts me back at five covers that are unpaid for. And I just paid one off this morning too. Sigh....

Just placed my order:

So excited for this one! I hope I get the poster. I'll put that shit up on the door to my room.
Paahahahaha yeah, right. Maybe if I was living with all of you guys in a big ass house. ;)
EDIT: Sorry, not a real big contribution. Just wanted to chat and keep the thread a-movin'.
Oh, and have any of you purchased anything from the FAKKU! Store? Looking at some of the doujin, I was tempted to get one of the following just to support FAKKU!:

I'm pretty torn on which version to buy too. I fear that a cover with, what I am assuming will be plastic snaps, just won't have that same look to it - come off looking like diapers or some shit. Every cover I've seen try to pull this off has looked rather odd. The only one I feel *has* done it right was the LINDA cover, and that was a swimsuit. The Rustle one that came our around the same time didn't look too bad, but it wasn't all that great either.
Edit: I should also mention that I'm fearful of the sewing job on her chest...where the materials meet. The way that the material is sewn always seem to make their chest look like a Lindsay Lohan implant nightmare. So tempting though...just so curious...and dat ass! Christ almighty!

Dogs are awesome, always there for you when you need them! Cats could give a shit less about you. ;)

I don't have any - just a plain body pillow for me. They're nice to gawk at in this thread, though :).I wish that I could say the same (that's my bank account speaking).
I won't lie, it's quite the expensive hobby, but there is something magical, and I suppose a little materialistic too, about owning a cover that appeals to you, that simply seeing/saving at an image of cannot fulfill.

This thread is awesome and you are all awesome. That is all.Hahaha, thanks. Do you have any dakimakura covers?

God, this is pretty sexy. Her expression is just awesome! What you guys think?
EDIT:
I'm diggin' D-Stage's new website layout as well.
I couldn't agree with you more. Haven't checked out the new D-Stage layout yet, I'll go scope it out it. Thanks for the heads up on both. :)
I think they are cute, but can't see myself dropping that kind of coin on one...at least not for one of the pricier ones. I have my fair share of PVC and resin figures, but I don't need to accessorize them with a bunch of expensive accessories. Not trying to take a dump on dollfies, are few of the ones I have seen are pretty hot, just a bit overwhelming of a hobby to me I suppose. ;)

I think we all fall for the bootlegs at the beginning. I didn't mind that at first, I mean they can be pretty cheap. It's just that after you see a real dakimakura from a real circle your jaw just drops. What you thought was good turns out to be absolutely garbage.Researching helps, but in my case it was both being lazy and ignorant.

I was right there on that same boat. I didn't really care about bootleg covers so long as I could get the one that I wanted, but like you said, the difference in quality is astounding! I still think that covers are a tad but too pricey for what they are, but I think that most of it comes from special order fees, shipping and handling fees.

How the shit did you (those who did) purchase the Effie cover? I couldn't figure it out.Not too sure on that one. All I get is gibberish everywhere!
Well shit, me too. I really wanted to nab that one. Hopefully I can figure out a way to get it. :(
I love her face on the back of the cover. It reminds me of old-school anime.

What I have been doing is using a couple push-pins spaced out a little wider than the cover and I'll hang a metal clips over the push-pinsI'm pretty delicate with the hanging so I'm not too worried about the clips messing the cover up.
If you're feeling saucy, you can also place something like a short USB cable inside the bottom of the cover to give it a little weight so it doesn't look all bunched up or wavy. I also found that you can add a couple weighted clothespins to each of the bottom corners of the cover to help straighten it out for pictures.
So you use the metal clips directly touching the daki? And what would the spacing be? A daki is 50cm wide, so about 55-60cm apart?
Yeah, they are directly touching the covers. The clips I use are rust-free. I definitely make sure they are clean before placing them on my beloved covers before hanging them up.
ZengarZanvolt wrote...
If you intend to use metal clips, it's a must to have to make sure the clips do not touch the covers directly. You can get rust on the clips and if it gets embedded into your cover, you'll be a world of pain.Happened to my friend.Oh man, I would be so pissed if I got rust on one of my covers. ( !0_0)
So yeah, Zandorf, you can always use some tissue or cut up some pieces of a rag and place it between the clips and your cover just to be safe.

Hmm... Who was is that told me to Woolite? o_o Spoiler:
That figure is freaking awesome, Zengar!
And thanks for the washing tip. This particular detergent is pretty scarce. You can't get it online @ Target and some of the locations nearby my house doesn't even stock it. I have to drive at least 15 mins to get a bottle. D:
I might start hanging a few of my older covers now that I have gotten an idea of how you guys do it.
If you're going to be hanging them for display and leaving them up for long durations of time, then I'd definitely put something under the clips at the top and would NOT hang anything at the bottom of the cover out of fear of stretching it out over time. This is just how I go about temporarily hanging them when I want to take pics to share here. ;)
You may also want to look at using some plastic poster hangers like these: http://www.amazon.com/Poster-Hangers-Set-Black-Size/dp/B0017U5RE6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1342126284&sr=8-4&keywords=poster+hanger
I haven't tried this method yet for covers because for the longest F**KING time I couldn't find these anywhere. I've been meaning to pick some up to hang some of my towels and also want to try it for daki picture taking, but I'm not sure if they'll hold the weight of a cover. I can always buy a set, test it out and let you know. ;)

Next question... If I wanted to hang up my dakis on my wall, what would you suggest I hang them up with? I don't like the idea of using tacks. lol.I used to hang them like this
Spoiler:
Now I do put a buffer(I use a small microfibre towel) in between the clips so the fabric doesn't get damaged
Spoiler:
Another excellent but expensive method would be to have a custom made frame to hang up your covers.
So you use those black clips to hold up your dakis? And just put some protection between the clips and dakis?
What I have been doing is using a couple push-pins spaced out a little wider than the cover and I'll hang a metal clips over the push-pins:

Well that sucks, $18.XX and the largest under-the-bed storage bin at Target still doesn't fit my covers neatly. I tried to put some of the sheets and towels in there, but it just wasn't happening no matter how I arranged it. I think the bin is about 7" deep and a couple stacks stick out well over it's depth. I'd get two, but seeing as how I don't have much space, I think I'll stick to storing them in drawers for the time being until I find a better solution.
They do have 3-drawer dresser style plastic bins that are fairly deep and wide, but they're like $50! $50 for plastic bins...have they gone mad?! ;)
At least you can store your covers . I shoukd show you the hell I'm going through. 2 FULL Closets and the base of my bed and still not enough space for my covers.
OMG, that is straight up bananas, sir. Both you ans Shash' have a mind-boggling amount of covers. Upon count, I have 47 covers, 5 sheets/towels and 9 cushion/standard pillow covers. With everyone combined in this thread, I bet we could quilt together a couple hot air balloons. LOL
Also, nice loot, gentlemen. ( ^_^)b
