The Shining is a realistic horror movie. If you want a trippy film watch Requiem for a dream or more of Kubrick's movies - 2001, Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide shut comes in mind.
Blood: The Last Vampire - 7/10
Apparently I.G's first entirely CG anime released in 2000. With a surprising amount of English dialog (not said by Japanese VAs) in the original release. And nice katana action scenes.
Is it any good? Yes, if you want a short (only 40 minutes) action anime then check it out.

Cinema Paradiso - 9/10
Man I loved this movie. It's very simple but it does it perfectly. The fact that it's a foreign film only helps the character to feel genuine and authentic.

I liked it. I didn't mind the tropes Shaft pulled and I thought the overall quality of the characters were really good. I can understand if people wouldn't like the AI but I didn't mind her.

I still have the vocaloid anime to watch and Hanamonogatari in an month. 5 potentially good anime - sounds like a good season to me. Nothing amazing yet though.
