I personally liked the first season even though the show was kind of cheesy, the whole fighting with music idea was pretty interesting too, this spring and summer should be good.

Knitting sounds like a good plan, you could always try to sell what you make on Etsy or somewhere else. As for other methods for killing time, you could watch some movies that you havent seen before or find an outdoor hobby.
There are plenty of guides online to help people who are inexperienced make a workout schedule, it also depends on what you will be doing because there are right and wrong ways to work out, it depends on what you have access to as well, google is your friend.
