Pirates aside, there is a popular position that this shouldn't be taken as 'true'. So what you would say here is that in your opinion it is wrong, rather than a generalized statement.

Oh yeah you don't want that 7200.11 drive, they have high failure rates. Don't bother with the 5400 RPM. Also they nicknamed the "Desktstar" the "Deathstar" for a reason. Uhh, you sure you can't find a better high capacity drive? I got a 1TB WD for about 70$ like 2 years ago. You should try looking on Newegg.

I may not have any spoons, but I do have several test tubes with bacterial cultures in them. This is particularly unprofessional, since you're expected to use a test tube rack when carrying multiple test tubes.

The PCR machines which do most of the dirty work of multiplying DNA for me.

This UV illuminator (along with colored goggles that I was wearing) allows you to see the DNA in the agarose gel (box shaped thing in the middle) which I can then cut out with the razor that I'm holding.

And then there are the dull days when you spend most of your time making supplies for future experiments. These are agar plates, on which bacteria (and unwanted fungi) grow into visibly large clusters called colonies. Depending on what else is in the agar, you can allow only certain types of bacteria to grow, or change their color, etc.


Edit: And it seems my last three pictures are gigantic. Anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have a laptop or a desktop?

Well actually all his negative rep was gained from his one post in this thread. (ie There wasn't really any obvious precursor to his behavior prior to his post) I will agree, however, that said user is rather useless and annoying, based on other posts from them I have seen.

Dia, you have some pretty good artwork. Although the exaggerated faces are sort of a hit-and-miss, the Touko one looks really cool but the Cheren and Bianca ones look kind of odd.

Why are you interested in transfer rates? Do you even do that much system I/O? I won't say it's useless, but it's pointless. Personally, even if SSD's get cheaper in the future, I'll still look at the HDD's that are half the price and twice the space. There is no future-proofing here, it's the same mentality as say, a graphics component.
