Kantai anime looks similar to Blue Steel. I hope there's the 3D CG animation for it. Blue steel pulled it off really good so Kantai should too (although I have no idea where the plotline is gonna be).

One thing I learned is that if you really want to get good at drawing, and this separated the big boys from the little boys, is to learn how to shade in [color=#9D0A0A]color. Damn that shit takes forever to perfectFixed. That's my issue anyways.

In all honesty, drawing via comp is pretty hard to do at least for me. I know practice is needed but it's still a new concept. Paper and pencil yiissshhh

Busy as hell, finished off a couple drawings and need to color one of them. Have a poster to work on though so that takes priority
That's nice. I somehow lost my bamboo tablet pen so I'm pretty much stuck with traditional paper and pencil until I order a new one.
[color=#993300]Pens aren't too expensive I think, and upgrading to a better one usually helps a lot
I'm aware but again, I'm stuck with traditional until I get some money to order another one.

I thought Saber was Alexander the Great for some reason. Also we have some idea of what Alexander the Great looked like and it was not a burly redheaded guy.Watch the show and you'll find out what that means. Also It's partial fiction, they can do what they feel like with their story and characters.

There are shows that I watch that literally make no sense to me, but I watch it anyway because It's still enjoyable somehow. It doesn't necessarily have to make sense for you to come to like it.
Understanding it isn't my point. If you have a set up which is ultimately pointless, it has no reason to exists.
Which set-up do you believe seems pointless?
The characters been based off of historical characters so loosely that it's pointless.
They aren't that loose to be honest, They may not be the gender or something like that of their historical counterpart, but that's just the writer's choice in the story he wanted to create. They do keep around the same physical traits and mannerisms of the hero's they portray. Saber (King Arthur) is brave and noble/Clad in armor and has a kingly sense about her. While if you look at Berserker (Hercules) he's Ultra muscular and has a brutish and menacing aura about him.
Also some of the characters may not be based of off basic history, but of mythology as well.
If you're going to play around with the concept that much the characters could may as well be based of anybody. Of course not having seen the show I am not fully aware of the situation.
Even so, they're still identifiable with their build/aura. What makes these heroes iconic is their legendary weapon/trait/magic. That is what separates the Fate series from the other shows like Hidan no Aria or the Milky Holmes franchise who also uses historical names and elements but does very little to hone in to those names.
For Saber (Arturia/Arthur), sure she has the noble aura of the King of Knights. But she's identifiable via Excalibur she wields.
For Rider (Alexander the Great), it's his army (Ionia Hetaroi) that swore loyalty to him until the end of his time.
I'm sure if there's other heroes that's not in the Fate universe would follow this logic of building on their philosophy, building a personality around it and truly define them with physical features and historical artifacts/legends.

What's not to like in a story about heroes throughout history duking it out amongst a web of deceit and magic?Because they don't look (and probably act) like the said heroes. As for magic there are about a billion other shows I could watch.
well to be fair most of the heroes and what not have no 100% set in stone appearance since all we have are stories and ancient art. Same with personality. Granted the obvious gender bends I'll give you.

Well if the appearance/personality of these heroes isn't based of the actual heroes, they might as well be anyone. Also nuuu
I think it has least to do with the hero's appearance and more to do with their philosophy throughout their lifeline. Personality is vaguely built off that. Looks can come afterward to multiply their personality. All in all, their appearances are rather minor when it comes to the true value of story-telling.
