Oddly enough, same thing happened at my school between two girls as well. It wasn't even the most horrifying thing that happened that year, another fight lead a girl to BITE off the other's entire earlobe.
I learned two things. One, always take the ghetto policy and take off any loose earrings before getting in a fight, and two, don't fight with crazy ass bitches.
I think the next worse thing that happened was a girl got her leg caught in a car door. Blood everywhere and an ambulance had to be called in.
Other than those two incidents, school was pretty tame.
