Huge fan of body modifications though I haven't worked up the courage or drive to get my own yet.

Laggy=/= not smooth. Smooth means things transition well without so many pauses. Lag is just lag.
What transitions are you talking about?
The only transitions I can think of are the loading times and that depends on who you're group with upon exiting the towns.
