Protip, get a orb of venom very early to beat Templar Assassin.The 3 damage tick just melts through her shield and she is now harassable.
Or pick venomancer against TA. Bitch gets shut down hard as fuck.
Or pick Doombringer. Radiance + Scorched Earth is the bane of her existence. Can't shield, can't cloak, can't do anything other than try to fight him early, and cry when he shows up to fights.
That would work late game, but since she's such a pubstar hero she tends to wreck most people's shit at the early levels. Thats why a lvl 3-4 orb of venom is so good.
She is not a pubstar hero. x.x

So has anyone but me experienced the glorious bullshit that is a Kunka Disruptor lane? That combination is so broken it's not even funny, lolYou ain't seen nothing until you've been up against Kunkka, SD and Lesh lane.
There is a reason SD is banned in most of the games. So much power in one skill, combine it with Lesh/Lina/Kunkka and its a 100% kill everytime he lands Disruption.
Also, SD/slithreen guard dual-lane eats through anything.
disruption > soul catcher > slithereen guard goes in > crush > amplify damage > right click awaaay.
Lol. The only people that is going to know what you're talking about is the ones that play DotA. =]
But yeah, he is a very powerful hero combined with any stunner. 50% damage Amp is insaaane~

I have been playing Dota, HoN and Dota 2 now for 7 years and i've never seen anyone get the long lane and short lane wrong. A thousand suns is completely right. The reason you call radiant's bot lane for the ''Short lane'' is because the creeps fight closer to their tower, making it alot more safer and easier to lane. You can also pull creeps which makes it even easier to lane and also denies XP from the enemy team.Kinda funny how the ''Dota 2 wiki'' posts a false picture.
Thats my bad. I thought it sounded weird and was lazy so I just checked the wiki. But I checked about 10 different places and some people say it this way and the other way. But checked it on playdota so its good. Someone should change the wiki. I was just being lazy and threw it up there.
When looking around online it looks like some are saying short is the "suicide" lane and long is the "safe" lane. So thats where all the confusion is... probably. It has been a long time since I have "read" the rules so over the years I probably remembered it wrong.
Get your facts right before you try to act smart. =3

Lol, what. If you don't think brood is the best suicide solo laner than i really don't think you know what you're talking about.
Brood isn't even refereed to as BM. And even Brood isn't the best solo laner. Wards shuts her down 100%. She can not do anything if they get wards.
Please, take your fucking pub attitude and get the fuck out of here. You're out of your league.
@Noutakun
Its not very hard, just max Axes and summons, if you're solo mid just farm 6 quickly and go gank. If you're solo longlane stack the ancients each time you get the chance(Dire has an advantage with doing solo Beastmaster). And get a soulring quickly. Its called suicide lane because they're up against two or more heroes.
um no. ur an idiot. wards dont shut her down 100% rofl.
in a suicide lane you should be back the fuck up regardless of invis or not, so wards don't really make any difference. Brood is best solo laner because she can farm afar with her first skill, control pulls and jungle with her summons. Her webs give her vision of ganks from the forest, extra regen and movement speed buff to make killing her slightly harder. Not to mention those support/s in your lane have got to rotate sometime and brood can put tremendous pressure on towers when that happens. Doesn't need a lot of items to or farm to impact or cause a dramatic effect on the game. WR on the other hand has an escape and a powershot to farm the lane which she can't even use because it'll push the lane and make her miss out on xp. Whoop dee hoo. In saying that you need to have a specific team if you're going to run a brood, WR on the other hand can run in any lineup and that's why she's chosen over brood as the suicide laner in most occasions. Not because she's better but because she fits in the teams lineup better than brood.
I think you should shut the fuck up tbh, because you're obviously a noob who doesn't know anything. Do you see pro teams banning WR over Brood? I think not. And i don't want to hear so much arrogance from a guy who uses red text to try to make people notice him because he's got an inferiority complex and self esteem issues irl.
That is totally the case, yes. You are 100% right.
@Scrubmyscar
Okay bro. =]
@Noutakun
Long lane is the one that isn't connected to YOUR jungle. Thus Dire bottom, and Radiant top.

But if you really want to know why she's not a carry, give her 7,000 gold and give an actual carry 7,000 gold and see who wins the fight. 10 times out of 10, Windrunner will lose that fight.That is not a very fair way to judge a hero. If we take two lowbies in that scenario, the WR would lose. If you took two high-skilled people the carry would lose more often. Of course, that depends on who the carry is.
For 7k a WR can get a Meka, Phase and Forcestaff plus ~1.1k to spend. If, lets say AM for example gets 4k. He would only have Battlefury and Yasha with ~450 to spend. Or BF with Boots and 1.2k to spend. In this scenario the WR would have more chance of winning because of her ridiculous CC and Utility. It entirely depends on who shes up against, or who's shes playing against. As you said, she's a semi-carry that doesn't require a lot of gold.
Sure, you're talking about CARRY Windrunner, which is very viable, but not before the 40 minute mark. WR is a very, very dangerous hero if the game goes on. I've played and seen a lot of WR games that has gone like this: Team with WR loses early and mid game but WR does very well for her self. WR gets her core items very quickly then gets MKB and Desolator and drops the enemy carry in a heartbeat. But you can not call her a carry at all. She is probably the best solo hardlaner there is, because there is really no way to kill a WR unless you have a very dangerous trilane.
She is also a hero that new people should stay away from. Sadly.

EDIT: Also, DAT ULT.
"Lunar Rush (Ultimate): Diana teleports to an enemy and deals magic damage. Lunar Rush has no cooldown when used to teleport to a target afflicted with Moonlight."
She can only use it two times in rapid succession. If she uses her ult on someone with a debuff all other debuffs gets removed.

I recently started playing this game, I have had it for a while but I recently got interested in it.May I ask, What exactly is "Agility"? I like to play Broodmother and I just don't know what agility is...
Agility is one of the three attributes. Each point increases your attackspeed by 1 and armor by 0.14.
Broodmother is also an agility hero, so she gains 1 dmg for each point aswell. Agility heroes also tend to gain more agility per level.
I see, This makes a lot of seance now. It will take me a bit of a while to get used to the items in the game, And a longer while to find a great build for Broodmother. Thank you!
On Broodmother you'd often want to take the solo "hardlane", that means solo top if you're Radiant, or solo bottom if you're Dire. And you generally want to get a "Orchid Malevolence" as soon as possible. But before that a "Soul Ring". Once you get your Soul Ring you can start building a spider army. Unless the enemy has a lot of AOE, then you just shoot the shot into their chest. If you have ANY questions, feel free to add me on steam or skype!

You're clueless. The reason he was picked so much was because he was amazingly strong with the heroes that existed back then. There weren't many heroes at all. And he was easily shutdown back then, and is still as easy to shut him down.
I appreciate the information that you're giving us, but I have to wonder why you're insistent on being so rude about it. Wouldn't it be easier to at least feign politeness and have people respect you for the knowledge you clearly want to show off?
inb4 fuck you I don't need respect I do what I want
Fuck you I don't need respect I do what I want! jkjk
I don't want to show off, but I just can't stand people calling heroes OP after they've been completely wooped by them in a pub. If they give any reasonable facts why the hero is OP, sure I can buy it. But AM really never has been OP. He's been a very, very strong pick because of the "current meta game". Hes not a very good pick anymore because of the heroes that were released after TI1. The game has become more emphasized on push. Thus having a hero farming won't have a chance against a team of 5 that takes all your outer towers before the 15minute mark and establishing full map control leaving no place to farm for the enemy carry.
I really hate the expresion "Meta game". Its just a lousy excuse for teams that have no imagination of their own.
And to answer your question, I don't try to come out as a rude person, but it ends up that way.

Actually AM isn't picked because of play style more than anything else. Chinese SEA team still use/ban AM a lot. You don't see AM picked nowadays because you only get to see EU/NA teams play and their play style usually instigates to having no carry at all.He's still the best carry in the game, exception maybe morphling.
He's not the best carry in the game, and he's not being picked anymore because of all the counters he was facing in DotA are now in DOTA2. And that there are better line-ups to pick than AM. Sure, hes still an amazing hero. But wasn't OP. We might as well just call Lycan OP as well. Maybe throw in some more heroes that completely stomps pubs ?
And I don't watch EU/US DotA unless there's an interesting match going on. Chinese by far the most entertaining DotA to watch.

Actually there's a fair amount of imbalance for dota 2.There are no imbalances in DotA or DOTA2. And its not a MOBA, its an aRTS :-P
And just because AM was a top-tier pick didn't make him imbalanced. He was a very strong hero, yes. But he was easily shut down. If you were to call every hero that had free farm for 40 minutes imbalanced _EVERY_ hero would be unbalanced. The reason he's so strong is because the team puts all their money in one hero. If he were to fail they would instantly lose unless the enemy team is completely retarded.
There are imbalances in EVERY GAME, unless the game is extremely simplistic (eg: rock paper scissors), then it's only to be expected.
The fact that AM was OP is exactly why the game is imbalanced. In competitive play, there was almost no way to shut down am. Why do you think he was banned 1st in every competitive match?
If dota 2 was perfectly balanced, then it would logically mean that any hero would have the same amount of value as any others, and obviously that's not the case. Face it, any moba with a large cast is designed to have some levels of imbalance.
Do you even know WHY he was picked so much at TI1? I bet you don't.

@623
Don't rely on anyone but yourself in pubs. Don't trust anyone.
Animation canceling is one of the most important things you will have to learn. Its pretty much what it sounds like. Cancel the animation before it is complete. In most cases the actual damage or spell comes out before the entire animation is done, thus you can gain time by canceling it as soon as the spell/hit is out.
This can also be used to fake out opponents if your hero has a very tell-tale animation when he is going to cast a spell. Take Leshrac for example
Spoiler:
He goes up on his back hooves and tries to stun. If you press your key bound to Stop, which is default 'S' he will still do the animation, but not the actual spell.

Also, on the MOBA vs aRTS thing, if you try pronouncing MOBA phonetically it sounds like "moh-buh". If you try pronouncing aRTS phonetically it's just arts. But given the context of the acronym and basic English grammar, if you say "Dota2 is an arts" someone's going to think you need a repeat course of first grade English. You could always just speak out the letters of the acronym, but in that case, it's much quicker to say "moh-buh" than "ay are tee ess." It comes down to personal preference, I guess.

I really have no idea how LoL made it so far. They just recently got a working spectator system and they don't even have a good replay function yet. And the entire structure is just horrible I have to say.They got so far because there were no modern replacements for DotA following a f2p model at the time. Take that and combine it with the simplified gameplay, and it became an internet sensation. It broke down the barriers to entry that DotA had, and was easier and less expensive to play than Heroes of Newerth. I like League of Legends. I never played DotA because the community was elitist and would ban you on sight if you were caught DLing a map. Combine that with the game's difficulty-cliff and lack of matchmaking system and you had something that was completely unfriendly to new players. League got me into MOBA games, and when the opportunity to play Dota2 arrived, I gladly accepted the challenge--and I'm glad I did. Without League I would not be playing Dota2. They're two entirely different games that appeal to similar demographics, but for different reasons. I have no complaints about League as a concept; all my complaints about League are really just complaints about Riot, because FUCK Riot. Those fuckers couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.
Agreed, their success comes from the time they released and published the game. Pretty damn sad that a game like that is so successful though... Oh well, nothing to do about that. And yeah, Riot is a horrible company.

I don't think just saying: "Dota is better than LoL" is gonna help our little friend to change to the dark si- *cough* I mean, the good side of the force!
I summed it up in a very, very short sentence. To list all the reasons why its better is going to take a very long time.. ((
Well that's the point, isn't it? Coming up with that single, short sentence comes up as rather arrogant if not properly explained.
It's like saying "I shat in my pants", but not explaining because you have a digestive system that is, at the point of time, dysfunctional because your kidneys are broken and will stay broken until your appointed operation to replace said kidneys...
Just for the sake of argument.
There is no need for further explanation because DotA is simply a better game than LoL. But I do get your point.
Anyone who has ever played DotA and LoL knows that DotA is a better game. Unless they have no sense of game balance.
"For every important thing in LoL, there are three in DotA."
