Posting other users pm's are fine, and as you said it's not in any official rules but we simply don't like users trying to rub shit in our eyes, it tends to irritate staff(especially those with the power to ban).

it's a new form of advertising, people no longer react to the old forms of it so people are trying new approaches to attain the same goal. It's the same concept behind viral marketing, really hit or miss but can yield some really great results for low costs.
