Could we get release update? Retailers had 11.30 set as release for some of the books.Yes, sorry this past month seems to have gone by so fast. A LOT of movement with book projects, there's a crap ton enroute right now with another shipment preparing to ship in a week or so.

Does Japan also Have this book or its specially made for Fakku? It's the same book in Japan, though it has previously exclusive things from Japan that are now all in one within this book. A lot of times books in Japan when released in different stores get exclusive bonuses to encourage fans to buy from those locations. Enough time has passed that we were able to include those separate items now all-in-one book.

seems like they're publishing the first two volumes as one 440 page book in japan. so my question is if you're going to republish homunculus's debut work as well and if it'll contain the previously magazine-exclusive full color extra chapter "the fitting crisis" from the september 2011 issue of comic kairakuten?Don't expect it immediately, but we do have our eyes on that title as well, though we'd be treating it a bit differently and make it just as special as it really is. This release is more about bringing back a classic book that's held very strong and making it available. We will no longer be reprinting the original Renai Sample and do not currently have any in stock, with this book taking its place as a more complete version. Hopefully this book does well and will show us that there is a demand to do something special with HB x RS in a large format.

I pre-ordered Succubi Ally December of 2024, and according to the receipt and product page, physical copies are supposed to ship in April 2026. Is this for real? The book is completed and currently on a cargo ship enroute for the US. It's due to arrive to the United States along with a lot of other titles by December. I just want you to keep in mind that it'll take a minute for it to arrive, get through customs, get sent to us, warehouse process them and start fulfilling orders. It's a lot of steps, I apologize for that. Realistically it'll probably be after the new year before that shipment of books (that title plus a handful of others) begin to get fulfilled and could take several weeks to get through every single title. While I personally don't think it'll take until April, we put that date for safety just in case there were any delays that were out of our control.
We are caught up with book preorders though and next year I'm aiming to close the gap more with book preorders being closer to a 4-5 month max wait window. It's something we've been working very hard to get caught up on and continue running forward now that we have all operations in order with the printer. I hope this gives some sort of assurance and I apologize for the frustration.

Why not post about it here?
It is for real! We did announce it at anime expo this year along with inside our Discord during the time of the announcement. It's currently in production, and we plan to have it ready for next year.
When we were closer to finishing the title we planned on talking more about it in depth for everyone :)

The jackets are enroute right now, we are withholding shipping any Volume 6 books in our warehouse until we get the corrected jacket so they go out correctly the first time. I suspect in December / January is when you'll see them officially go out.
In the mean time we have started to receive Black Label and initially we were hesitant on shipping them out until we can properly ship out Volume 6, but in order to prevent even more delays for more books we've decided to fulfill Black Label as they come in.
If you have received a book and it is the incorrect jacket for Volume 6 (uncoated) please submit a support ticket and we are setting them aside to send out replacement jackets to you once we receive them.
Thank you for your patience while we resolve this

So, I received a Nana & Kaoru Volume 6 with the low quality paper jacket and I see there is a thread about fixing that. I also received a new copy of Metamorphosis which has a paper jacket as well. Is that going to be the new standard for the books? The paper sleeve on Metamorphosis is not near the quality of any of the other books I have. You can submit a ticket for Nana & Kaoru and when we receive the new jackets, we can send one in the mail for you to replace it with.
This is not a new standard and future books will have what you're familiar with on quality, I hope this helps a bit and terribly sorry for any inconvenience

As of right now jackets have been reprinted for the Nana & Kaoru Vol 6, a bulk amount is being sent to our distributor who is going to rejacket remaining stock so that future orders will have the proper jacket if bought outside of FAKKU.
We are having a number sent directly to our warehouse too where we can rejacket our stock of the books, and if you submit a ticket we can send a replacement jacket to you as well.
Due to the other two titles having shrink wrapping and better protected, their jackets will be corrected in future reprints, but not immediately since they aren't experiencing the same damage.
In your case you received an actual defect and can make a ticket to receive one with a jacket properly applied on it
I hope this helps!

The first editions of Nana & Kaoru 1-6 have jackets - as we reprint them the 2nd editions will have french flaps. This decision was Nana & Kaoru was our first book series to not be shrink wrapped due to it not being required, and we've found that through transport and display on bookshelves in stores they can get quite damaged. The second editions will all have french flaps and going forward whenever we publish a series that does not require shrink wrapping they will be french flaps to preserve the quality of the books!

This is a post for awareness and so those who share this issue can comment in regards to physical copies of Nana & Kaoru Vol. 6, and a potential note to Fakku asking them about and making them aware of this issue. If this was already brought up, apologies. It seems some people are getting their vol. 6 damaged. I purchased one copy from Crunchyroll, and another from Amazon. Both came damaged with dust jackets in horrible condition. I found a Reddit post from earlier in the week with some others who state the same issue, at least one of whom claims to have received 5 copies all of which were damaged. The dust jacket is a different material than the one for Vol. 1-5 and it overall feels like a much worst product, and the fact that it’s arriving damaged is obviously not good. So, I just wanted to post so there is awareness about this issue as people are reporting similar problems at Barnes & Noble (meaning Crunchyroll, Amazon, and B&N received damaged books from the distributor).
We are looking into a solution for this with our printer. Printing can be extremely frustrating in the fact that often we are left surprised as well when things turn awry. As inappropriate as it sounds, management / staff changed at the printer location we were using and used different terminology for print specifications, and we were not informed. It was an egregious mistake done by the printer who not only changed terminology on us, but also did not do their due diligence in glancing at previous volumes they printed to see Huh, this is different from the rest.
When we receive proofs, we do not receive them with the final varnishes such as matte, gloss, etc on them. That is a detail that is applied after proofing is approved to make sure details like colors are correct.
A couple books did make it through the gate without our knowledge of this different material, however it was quickly changed and corrected.
The other two titles that received this error was Black Moon Prophecy Vol. 2 and a Metamorphosis paperback reprint. I am currently in communication with the printer at finding options for them to reprint the jacket, but I am still in the early stages of this.
We were also deeply saddened by the outcome of the situation and wish it could have turned out differently.
As I receive more information and a solution is made I will update on the matter.
Thank you for being honest and upfront about the situation. As a reader, it definitely sucks but as someone who worked in a bookstore and directly with publishers, I can understand the frustration. I appreciate the honesty.
Will Fakku make an announcement if a second printing is issued, or if dust jacket replacements are sold separately?
I'll be able to follow up later next week on a solution that works best for logistics and customers

That was a surely long read but now at least I know how painfully long road is to profesionally make books. Im also happy that soon I will get my own BMP2 copy after almost 2 years of waiting lmao. Probably the longest preorder You ever made xdBtw in Printing Status thread there is a mistake. It says "Sweet Hole by Super Zombie" while the author is Henkuma :)
Fixed! And yeah, it sucks, I'm sorry. It's getting better but it's hard to assure people until they actually start seeing it. It felt like we were being given empty promise after promise as well, but the weekly meetings with our printer has really helped and seeing the books move and put in containers to ship has really uplifted my spirits. I hope customers also feel that relief as well when they start seeing books come in regularly.

Hello everyone,
I'm here just to give an update of where we're at and what to expect when it comes to print. We are aware the biggest complaint and problem customers are facing right now is simply the window length of preordering a book and receiving the book. Sometimes it takes well into a year, and that just simply isn't sustainable, fair, or even a reasonable time table for customers to be receiving their products.
We've been working since the end of last year to really address this with a goal in mind to catch up with print and have ourselves in a position where customers are only waiting a few months between preorder and release. It's with great hopes that one day that gap would be even shorter, but right now my focus is to get things back to the way they were.
What are we actually doing to catch up with print?
Since the end of last year, I created a timeline internally to hopefully come up with a way to create a flow of checks and balances with book production and keep books moving through different stages. To put it simply, giving the printer a handful of titles each month.
The idea as books files are accepted, verified, proofed - we were getting more books quoted, supplying files, etc. Ultimately that's what this job is, a conveyer belt of product to be produced with set stages that need to be completed in order to go to the next stage before shipped off and delivered to you. But if there is a bottleneck somewhere, then books get piled up, and you don't see that movement that we were hoping to see. Which is what happened. The printer could not get through the stages fast enough, but were accepting new titles from us, and they were building up. So we're handing them work files, we're approving proofs, but left wondering when they'd have the books finally printed. They knew this was not sustainable, and knew it had to be addressed, so they completely remodeled their own workflows internally. But during that process, it caused delays.
We had to create checks and balances to prevent problems from arising, and through trial and error we had to work together to get the process working.
I've been doing my best to keep this page that's stickied updated so customers know what stage their books are at: [Locked] FAKKU Books: Release & Reprint Status
Things that have changed to improve work flows:
*Set checkpoints and stages that must be met and approved before going to the next step, no skipping steps to prevent "surprises" happening with print quality in order to try and complete a book faster.
*Printer has scheduled containers to leave their facility every 3 weeks for ship vessels so that books do not sit for weeks and weeks awaiting an available containers for vessels, they know every 3 weeks they must have more projects completed to fill those containers
*Weekly meetings to ask about each and every title, communicate about where they're at.
*No waiting around, once books are all approved after quoting with file submissions and the proofing process begins, more books are added to get quoted
Have things actually improved this year?
The short answer is: Yes. I'm extremely happy with how things are going now.
The longer answer is: We currently as of originally posting this have 14 titles, on 2 different ships, in 3 different containers, and enroute to our distribution center, expected to arrive in August (beginning and end). We currently have 4 titles that have arrived to our distribution center, ordered to be delivered to us to our own warehouse, and expected to arrive at the very end of July/beginning of August to fulfill to our customers. We currently have 12 titles in various stages of production (6 with proofs all approved, 6 titles expecting proofs this Friday). We are submitting quotes for 7 more titles this week into next week to begin supplying files. Things are cooking. We have officially submitted all 2024 titles and this next batch will be 2025 titles, we have made it into the current year for things.
In comparison from when we began this timeline goal:
Our first batch last year while our printer was struggling with turnaround took 270 days from file submissions to the printer to in our hands at our warehouse. That hurts my soul and is so incredibly unsustainable. That is almost 9 months. That's the same amount of time to create actual life.
The next books took 190 days, shaving off 3 months of agony and turned it into a 6 month turnaround. That's closer to what we need, but still feels painful since these are books that were originally put on preorder in 2024. Now that we're getting into 2025 titles, that large gap is going to continuously shrink and we catch up.
I cannot express how serious we are taking this, and I realize it has been miserable on the consumer side as well waiting for things you paid money for, but it is actively getting better as we continue, and I hope to make it even better in the future.
If you follow me on my Bluesky, sometimes I post pictures of our projects, but be warned that I do post other things as well - the best way to keep up to date with things is simply through the stickied thread: [Locked] FAKKU Books: Release & Reprint Status
