A few that I like:
"There is no shame in being defeated, shame is in running away."
"Don't believe in yourself, believe in me who believes in you."
"Time is so generous to us and, yet it still such a cruel thief."
"If you aren't remembered, then you never existed."
There are tons more, but these are some that I find have the most meaning.

Boys Be... it makes you all negative emotions in the spectrum.Watching guys go through puberty isn't my idea of depressing. Sad yes, but not in the sense that we're aiming for. Thanks for the suggestion though. I might watch it in my free time later.

Have parties. Lots and lots of parties. So far my friends and I have a hotpot party and the depressing anime marathon party planned.
Also be with family, and see relatives that I would almost never normally see.

Have you considered type-moon stuff? Though I don't like the anime versions Tsukihime/Fate are still pretty depressing. Also Kara no Kyoukai: Paradox Spiral was somewhat sad.But as long as you have Grave of the Fireflies this marathon will be a success.
Neither Tsukihime nor Fate/Stay Night are sad. Yes they have their sad bits, but not depressing enough, especially the anime versions. The visual novels go much further in depth but still don't reach the level of depressing.
Kara no Kyoukai is one of my favourite anime. Ever. It's made of so much awesome that it's not sad.
And yes Grave of the Fireflies pretty much defines depressing.

Most of those aren't outright sad enough. Voices of a Distant Star and Jin-Roh are likely ones that we'll watch. .Hack, Noir, Canaan, Shigofumi and Jigoku Shoujo wont cut it unfortunately.

Air, Sola, H20, The Time of Eve.We are considering Air and Sola. H20 already has a solid spot on our list. Or not. Time of Eve is kind of dystopic but not enough so to bring me to tears or feel bad.

My friends and I were discussing and Myself;Yourself, Elfen Lied and Schooldays are cut from the list for sure. Tokyo Magnitude didn't even get considered.
Not watching Honey&Clover for sure cause it's too long, doubt we're gonna watch Blassreiter either, though I would like to. I'll have to look into Koi Kaze.

Spoiler:
I'll edit the list on my opening post soon... Hopefully. Done.
