Raze's Piano
4
OK guys. A few days ago I put up a piano rendition of the School Days OP for both the game and the anime. People liked it, so that's the impetus for this thread.
Cantabile (playing music by ear) is something I'm known for among my social circles. I play the piano, guitar, and drums, but people like my piano renditions the best (probably because everyone can play the guitar anyway).
EDIT:: Sorry to disappoint but it'll probably be very unlikely I can fufill any requests. It's mainly because I lack a recording device, and don't fancy carrying my laptop all the way to the music building. I also have a lot on my plate, since there's a lot I have to prepare for in my final year with regards to music, as well as all the schoolwork. Here's what I wrote before:
Improvisatory Music
1) School Days OP (Still I Love You and Innocent Blue)

2) Xmas Themes (Silent Night, Wish You a Merry Christmas, Jingle Bells, Greensleeves, Hark the Herald Angels Sing)

I've heard it, and knows your voice, I'm gonna hunt you down. ^o^
Just kidding. My ear is still fine, and I like your rendition.
Is it okay from a game? It's from Ar Tonelico, EXEC//PHANTASMAGORIA, I don't know the artist but the singers are Noriko Mitose, Akiko Shikata, and Haruka Shimotsuki. It's a little long, I hope you don't mind.
And here it is.

Btw, I don't know there's music section at FAKKU! ^o^
Never mind, it's forbidden for me anyway.

-taps his nose- Nothing off the top of my head, but I'll check in later with a link if I think of anything.

Its not from an Anime, sorry for that.
One Winged Angel
It's Sephiroth's soundtrack of the final boss battle from Final Fantasy VII.
It's kind of a challenge, I guess.

Not sure I'll do the Ar Tonelico one. It's quite long, and I can't seem to get into it. But you never know.
OK, I'll do One Winged Angel. I love FF7. I just got a new HD and need to sort my stuff out first, so I'll probably get it up in... maybe a couple days later.

I see, too bad. I understand though as it IS long. And it has so many instruments in it, making it difficult to hear the notes.
In that case, can you do this one instead? I'm not really canceling the Ar Tonelico, you can do that one too whenever you want, or not. Much appreciated.
This is Theme Of Prontera, made by Gravity.
Is this doable?

It is. And it's very nice. I will definitely do this one.
Although I'm finding that panning very annoying. I set my speakers to mono because it bugged me that much.
Anyway, I added some recordings I found of classical music I played, and the Xmas themes. For those of you who know the songs, I'd like feedback too.

Awesome. I suck at playing by ear.
How about the Observatory Theme from Super Mario Galaxy? There's a lot of SMG music that I think would sound good on the piano, but that one seems the easiest and it's the one that stays stuck in my head the longest. XD
Have you ever thought about transcribing any of your piano renditions?

Anyway, shamelessly advertising my piano. Gurren Lagann OP up, as well as a new Liszt piece.

Unbelieveble well played it just struck me when i listened to it.. and when i listened to Gurren Lagann OP for the second time i decide to create a profile and loggon to give you this reply. First i must say im deeply impressed by your cantabile ability and secondly since you asked for people to give you requests for piano renditions on anime music im going to give one myself. This is one of my favorite opening plays from one of my favorite animes :)
Full Metal Alchemist 1st OP
Melissa - Porno Graffiti
im not sure if you want the full version or the anime version but here is the full version:

Seeming as you like Chopin, I was wondering if you maybe able to do "Prélude in D-flat major "Raindrop"
Once I unlocked this song on Eternal Sonata, I instantly loved it.
Yes, it's been on other things such as the Halo 3 advert and Big O, but it's still an amazing song.
I couldn't find it as an MP3, so here's a youtube video instead.

Can you hear me? My voice was sucked into the empty darkness (Raze's piano version)...
If this world should hold some meaning (and it does) these feelings (love for the piano version) wouldn't be in vain.
I was crushed by my aspirations (when my wave editor crashed T.T)
and so I gave up (making a perfect-sounding version)
Unknowing of the colors of the boundless sky (a perfect sounding version)... my feeling are running free even now (with the below file), confirmed by the [clacking of my fingers on the keyboard]
The me of today will continue forward (although in this less-then-perfect version)
Regardless if [a perfect version will come out someday]
The answer, thats right... was always right here
fufufufu... raze-san no gurren lagann piano to vocals... GATTAI! (<--- Really bad Japanese)
Supposed to read:
muhahaha... Raze's gurren lagann piano and vocals... COMBINED!

LOL!!! This really surprised me. Although it didn't work out too well, it's awesome!
You must've had a really hard time. I did kind of play it about twice as fast as it was supposed to be, and did not restrain my tempo at all (meaning I sped up and slow down when I felt like it); such is the tendency of a pianist when unhindered by other instruments, a band, or an orchestra.
Maybe when I get a better piano I'll play it while listening to the original so that it's timeable. This is hilarious.

And if anyone is interested in the vocal-only of sora iro days... you probably won't find anything remotely close to a pure vocal-only... incase anyone here wants to flaunt a vocal/piano mix :)

First update in AGES.
Kishiou no Hokori from Fate/Stay Night. I hate how my timing was kinda off for the more difficult sections (this is improvistory after all), but I like how I captured the general mood of the whole thing. Just the transition from the second verse to the climax sucked, but oh well. This one might just be one of the songs I might transcribe just because it kicks ass.

Very good as always Raze. I recognize this well from all the hours on F/SN
Didn't seem to notice the piano, but I don't care as it still sounds good.

I can tell the difference between the pianos, the second sounds a lot nicer. I can also hear the mid range in the first being slightly out of tune... but not by much. I wish I was able to play stuff on the piano by ear like you do. I can however do that on the trombone, but a lone trombone isn't as attractive as say a lone violin or a piano.
now for a request I think you would like junikokugenei (Sub theme) from the 12 kingdoms ost1, I'll see if I can't get this on megaupload or something to give you an idea what it sounds like

Amusing... knowing that what brought me here in the first place is that version of that Kishi ou no Hokori...
Beautiful play. Even it's easy to know some melodies were off. But it's not an easy work to convert a song enriched with so many instruments into only a solo instrumental. Well done for that.
Have you ever heard of Wind Scene or Polonaise Brillante No 1 from Opus 4 (a violin piece)? You might be interested of improving them to piano once you heard them as well.
Sorry if my english sucked.
