I really think that touka personality is one of the main charm of her

Go watch Tears to Tiara. One of the most pathetic endings I've ever seen.
I can also see you'll have a lot of problems with a lot of series, since at least half of them don't get a "truly" happy ending.

@Hale: If I remember correctly the anime ending was quite true to the vn ending and if so then it was very good imho. Nothing felt forced and the bittersweet mix makes it all the more memorable. Dunno about you but I tend to quickly forget boring ass, mushy endings that leave nothing for us to imagine. God forbid a story as awesome as Utawarerumono receiving a lame ending.

@Das: You're right, it was a bittersweet ending, and I'm glad you liked it. I just got caught up in the story and characters and didn't want anything bad to happen. Whether that makes endings of stories "good" or "bad" is all opinion, though. I'll get over it and will soon agree that it's a great ending, I'm sure :)

I think what happened is I went in with no expectations or hype. I fell in love with the setting, characters, and story. I loved the first half of the series so much that I wanted it to end on a happy note. Then BAM, the ending comes along and nothing I wished for happened.
