Romantic comedy about yuri-obsessed girl, cross-dressing sadistic boy
The September issue (on sale on August 10) of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine will confirm that Minari Endo's Maria Holic romantic comedy manga will be animated for television in Japan.
The story centers on a sophomore named Kanako who enrolls in all-girls school because she has a phobia of men and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating freshman named Mariya who fits her criteria — except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a cross-dressing sadistic boy.
The manga has been running in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine since 2006, and three compiled volumes have been published. There has already been a drama CD released last month that features Aya Hirano (Kanako) and Yu Kobayashi (Mariya), but the anime cast is still to be determined. Akiyuki Shinbo (Le Portrait de Petit Cossette, Sayonara ZetsubÅ Sensei) will direct off the scripts that will be supervised by Masahiro Yokotani (Reideen, World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin). Hideyuki Morioka (Sayonara ZetsubÅ Sensei, Pani Poni Dash!) will design the characters that the SHAFT studio (Sayonara ZetsubÅ Sensei, Pani Poni Dash!) will animate. GENCO is producing the project.
Another manga that Endo drew, Hatenko Yugi, has already been adapted as a television series earlier this year; the North American publisher Tokyopop released the first eight volumes of this manga under the title Dazzle.

I've quite known for a while now what animes will be airing this coming 2009. I also already have my tentative list of what I would like to watch... but unfortunately Maria + Holic is definitely not in that list.
no offense but yuri -basically girl to girl relationship or even yaoi just doesn't sit well with me nor does it light my fire...

I consider it one and the same when it's about a guy who cross-dresses as some sort of a decoy to relieve his fetishes...if you get my point...the plot is still basically yuri since the lead char. enrolls in an all-girls school just to find her ideal yuri partner...too bad for her though, the one she got interested with was not really the "girl" she had in mind... IMHO.

yeah...it's pretty much amazing series...it also Got many fans out there....It's just...Maybe it's not Fakkuza's type of anime...It's pretty much won't work if you judge an anime mainly on it's girls, fanservices, or stuffs like that....Truth to be told...the main character isn't even charming isn't it??...
