Shingetsutan Tsukihime

Sorry for bringing up an old ass series but this baby is a favorite of mine and I couldn't stand it's absence on the master list.
Let's kick off properly though.
One of the so very few Type-Moon anime out there (regrettably), produced by JC Staff. Although the show is older than the currently running Kara no Kyoukai, the original material is actually somewhat based on that of KnK making some character/setting similarities stand out.
The basic concept tells about Tohno Shiki - a high school boy involved in a serious accident in early childhood that enabled him to perceive ... something additional in the surrounding world. The main focus resolves around Shiki returning to his old household and reuniting with his sister Akiha. The reunion combined with more than unusual circumstances in which he meets a girl by the name of Arcueid will prove an impulse to unearthing forgotten secrets/tragedies and shall put Shiki's life in danger more than once.
Let's be honest at this point - for anyone who played the game the story may seem wasted. That's the thing with Type-Moon - those bastards are so damn good in writing scenarios that transferring them into an anime (especially only 12 episode long) without any loss seems impossible. For those who didn't play it though this shouldn't pose that much of a problem and the show should remain more than enjoyable with only a few vague details from time to time.
The art is good IMO. Fairly dark colored and portraying the characters in a serious, adult-like manner. An excellent addition to the heavy/dark mood and solid amounts of blood being spilled.
What really made me fall in love in the series though (and practically forget the partially wasted potential of the original story) is the music. Words simply fail to describe how I worship that ominous instrumental soundtrack by Toshiyuki Omori. It simply does wonders for the emotional level/mood of the series.
I won't hide - I'm more than biased about this because it hit my anime tastes right on the spot and I'm an eternal a Type Moon fanboy. It should still prove a solid watch for those who like mystery/vampire genres in general or found Blood+, Sola, Elfen Lied or (obviously) Kara no Kyoukai and Fate/stay night to their liking.
The OP. Gives a nice idea about the general feel of the series IMO :

Like I said - I'm biased about this because of the mood and overall impact it had on me. I also happen to like this 'new' Arc. She ain't better than originally portrayed but she fits in great with the sadness/ominousness filling the show.

Saw this in Animax.Love the Opening sound since then.it has this dark, creepy feeling that surrounds you as you listen.the vocals. The pianos. It's all set for something dark.
2 bad for the 12 ep's but i did enjoy it.Also i kinda like the love between Shiki and Arcueid.
Also I saw Arcueid in this Fighting game with the Capcom chars. like Street Fighter etc.etc.
Wanna play her there?

Hmmm...I saw this so long ago, I've almost forgotten about it.
Thanks, mate. All of the rage and grief just came flooding back.
Before/if I rant, let me get this out first: Shingetsutan is a good anime. Well drawn, well voiced, and with a good backstory. However, to a diehard Tsukihime fanboy that I was/am, it also failed miserably.
However, I find this happens to most anime that, instead of picking a route and sticking to it, go for an amalgam choice. Still, we get to see Akiha with a Violin, so I guess that sort of evens out the amusement park scene.
However, on one part my memory does fail. Does the anime turn Satsuki into a vampire, or do they let her off the hook?

The regrettable truth - the anime often disappoints if one knows the full/real story. Dunno how exactly I was able to distance myself from that fact but I sorta always treated it as a separate, stand-alone entity. The approach allowed me to enjoy it ... greatly I might add.

Who is Satsuki again?
Shiki's Step Sister?
Or was it that Nun like girl who turns into Shiki's classmate.

Neither. She's the twin-tailed classmate who supposedly dies at a massacre near the beginning of the series. Survives to become utterly useless.

THERE IS NO TSUKIHIME ANIME! >_>

Wasted potential :
As for Satsuki, she will be in the remake of Tsukihime game. Though that's what they said about her having one of the dream nights in Kagetsu Tohya and it never happened... >_>

There's that approach as well
And yeah - I've heard it too (the remake was even supposed to be scheduled for this year). Better artwork, enhanced sound and story changes (some sources say they're also considering removing the ero content  ) .... I'll believe it when I'll play it.

What approach is that... The anime doesn't exist. >_>
Well as for the remake I'm a huge fan of the game so I'm hoping and waiting like a little school girl... If it's false I'll probably turn emo... >_> Hopefully it comes out soon so the translators can get to work on game sooner... As for a different storyline I hear the base story is going to remain the same.

Hehehehe, same with me. There is only Shingetsutan Tsukihime but there is no tsukihime anime. Funny how their clothing and ability nearly similiar. Remake with the Satsuki arc, wow I`m waiting for it. The artwork in plus talk makes me want it more. Hahahaaha, can`t wait for tsukihime 2 don`t know if it is right or not, but the rumor said Arcueid`s sister will be the heroine and she is a loli. Sigh, I hope the two of the game come soon and translated or at least voiced (sigh both has low chances)

Good ending.
Always preferred the true ending BTW and I'm glad that the anime used it (though not unchanged).
End of quote vortex.
