Natsu no Arashi!
ANN wrote...
Plot Summary: In an old town coffee shop, a boy met an older high school girl. From there, everything was... An unforgettable summer began. - Adapted from the manga that was written and illustrated by Jin Kobayashi, who's well known for his previous work - School Rumble. (bleh, haven't even finished the first season...)
- It's a "Shaft" production. (planned for a 13 episode run)
OP theme: "Atashi dake ni kakete" by Omokage Lucky Hole
(I'm having a strange way of coping with the song... I can't tell if I even like it or not but it's kinda "funky")
ED theme: "Kirari Futari" by Ryoko Shiraishi
Characters (seiyuus):
[size=11]Sayoko Arashiyama (Ryoko Shiraishi)
Hajime Yasaka (Yuuko Sanpei)
Kaja (Kaori Nazuka)
Jun Kamigamo (Chiaki Omigawa)
Sayaka (Hitomi Nabatame)
Hideo Murata (Hiroki Yasumoto)
Yayoi Fushimi (Ai Nonaka)
Kanako Yamazaki (Yui Horie)
Takeshi Yamashiro (Tomokazu Sugita) [/h]
I recall browsing through the early chapters of its manga; and so they decided not to waste time for introductions, and still manage to get away with a humorous start. For starters, I suggest reading through the first volume of its manga for better understanding. It was quite an enjoyable first episode, something which I certainly didn't expect.

"Atashi dake ni kakete" by Omokage Lucky Hole (OP)
"Kirari Futari" by Ryoko Shiraishi (ED)
To my surprise, I'm really loving this series so far! The way Shaft has incorporated their style in animation adds more shit to it! (Very Nice!):D
Episode 2: follows the introductory first two chapters of its manga. I'm really enjoying this, that much I can say.
(if it isn't that much obvious)
can anyone... the salt... please?

The "REAL" first episode has aired.
Ep.2 is ep.1
I dunno what's the deal with the randomness, but I like the animation direction. Though the redesign of Arashi and other characters like Sayaka from the manga kinda bothers me a bit. But it's still a great watch.

Natsu no Arashi is proving to be an amusing watch for me, and the OP is funky and awesome to listen to. I also like the character designs as well as the plot development so far. It's worth watching.

Things have really started to pick up since episode 9. The series is so damn enjoyable to watch; there's comedy, mystery, drama, adventure, "suspense" and even action. (I'm not kidding). Also, there's so much anime references that's easily noticeable upon each and every episode, infused in the most awkward situations. I could identify some of those at most but there's quite a lot of other things that I can't determine. Like in the latest episode(10), it was simply hilarious how the three (Kaya, Jun, and Sayaka) reenacted Yayoi and Kanako's "story-telling" portion... with a slight twist! Shit, it was funny as hell even though I'm unsure what the reference was in that one. (does anyone know?) I'm looking forward to the following episode. :D
Since Bakemonogatari is set to air this summer, I suppose the series ain't gonna last much longer (than 13 episodes). :(
On a side note, the OP theme, "Atashi Dake ni Kakete" has really grew on me ever since my first post. It's way too catchy and funky to not enjoy listening to, for at least about 10-15 times each week.
So damn easy to sing along with isn't it?!

Now that I'm done with another fun and very entertaining series, I can finally focus on what's ahead of me this summer season. I'll certainly miss the series but only for as long as autumn comes, for that's when the 2nd season shall begin. :D

Yeah, despite the very critical bloggers out there who seemed to have taken its last/13th episode so seriously... so what's the big deal, seriously? The producers wanted some sort of a bonus episode, simply wanted to try some things out and have fun; and so it did deliver (for me). It may not be the best as we could all agree, but it was nevertheless ridiculously hilarious. The time paradox speculations where I never really managed to understand a single thing, the sudden random costume/outfit changes, the characters' opening sequence poses, the somewhat repetitive/ongoing jokes, and last but not the least, the spoiled-milk plus the cutie-cherry-chan equals... explosive-fruit-juice! ROFL  (Btw, episode 12 was well done and had pretty much served as the season's finale)
On a more serious note, I expect the sequel to shift towards the more serious part of the story but without necessarily cutting back on its humor. To be somewhat specific, it's also about time that Hajime learns about Jun's true gender! Finally, I'd be hoping to see a much needed conclusion to the series (may it be an anime original ending or whatever). Anyway, thanks to this anime adaptation, I'm now looking forward to reading its manga. :D

I guess I'll give this a try, but if it ends up with a bullshit ending like School Rumble, I will rage so hard.

For a fact, I still like this series far better than Bakemonogatari.

...lol, who's up for a little comparison of those 2 vids above^ ?
PS: It also has a character song album which is truly extraordinarily awesome. :D Unfortunately, there are no more "kaketes" to be had in this sequel... :(

I loved the OP song... pretty damn addictive. Only problem is that I'm so backlogged in anime and the fact that I'm not too sure which subgroup to follow as put a stop to this series for me. I'm just waiting for a batch torrent to come out and watch the series from there. Overall, I like this series, and I'm not expecting an in-depth plot but adventures on an episode basis.
